The record

Purpose: Cutaway removes image backgrounds in the browser using AI that runs on the user's device.
Input formats: It accepts PNG, JPG, WEBP, and HEIC/HEIF images, including batches and clipboard pastes.
Background options: Users can make the background transparent, add a solid color or their own backdrop, or blur the original scene.
Editing tools: The tool offers edge cleanup, feathering, sensitivity controls, and manual erase and restore touch-ups.
Layout and shadows: It includes canvas presets such as Amazon 2000×2000 white, square, portrait, and story formats, plus drop and ground shadows.
Exports: Users can export PNG, JPG, or WEBP at original resolution and download batches as ZIP files.
Image privacy: The maker says images are processed in browser memory and are never transmitted to its servers or third parties by the tool.
Local storage: Interface preferences and local tool state use browser local storage, while the AI engine is cached by the browser.
Analytics and delivery: The privacy policy says the site may use cookieless analytics and loads assets from CDNs that can see the user's IP address but not their images.
Offline use: After the initial AI setup is cached, Cutaway says it can keep working without an internet connection.
First-use setup: The maker says the first AI setup usually takes 30–90 seconds on Wi-Fi and is cached for later visits.
Support: The About page invites feedback, bug reports, press, and partnership inquiries by email.
Launch terms: The maker says the launch version has no accounts, subscriptions, feature paywalls, or payment step, and that paid options may be introduced later.
