Purpose: Inciteful analyzes citation networks to help researchers discover relevant academic literature.
Paper Discovery: Paper Discovery builds a citation network around selected papers and surfaces important and similar papers, authors, and institutions.
Literature Connector: The Literature Connector finds citation paths between two academic papers and displays them in an interactive visualization.
Search approach: Its citation network and link prediction approach is designed to surface papers beyond keyword search and citation counts, including newer literature.
Database coverage: The site states its database covers more than 240 million academic papers and indexes more than 2 billion citations.
Data sources: The listed scholarly data sources include OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, Crossref, and OpenCitations.
BibTeX: Users can import BibTeX files to seed a graph and export results in BibTeX format; imported entries need a DOI.
Reference managers: The site describes exporting findings to Zotero, Mendeley, or another reference manager.
Filters: Paper Discovery results can be filtered by keyword, distance, and year.
Beta limitation: The Graph Pruning feature is beta and the maker says it may not be supported for a significant period or ever become a permanent feature.
Audience: The Literature Connector is intended for interdisciplinary scholars and people moving into a new research area.
Support: The maker invites questions, suggestions, and feedback by email at [email protected].
Open source: The maker says Inciteful is built on a fully open-source codebase.
Platform availability: The product is presented as a website with paper search and BibTeX import; the opened pages do not state downloadable desktop or mobile apps.
