The record

Product: Inkstone is a local-first AI roleplay app that stores chats, characters, lorebooks, and settings on the user’s device and connects to a chosen model provider for generation.
Characters: Users can create characters and import Character V2 cards from PNG images with embedded JSON or JSON files.
Lorebooks: Inkstone supports lorebooks that add world-building context to chats, including lorebooks embedded in imported characters.
Prompt controls: Users can choose community-made system prompt modes or bring their own, and view active lorebook entries injected into context.
Appearance: Inkstone includes ten handcrafted themes and lets users customize colors, fonts, message bubbles, backgrounds, animations, and per-chat atmosphere.
AI providers: Inkstone does not include a bundled AI model; it connects to providers that support the OpenAI API format, including OpenRouter, DeepSeek, Z.AI, NanoGPT, OpenAI, and custom endpoints.
Provider costs: Users supply their own API key, and the provider they choose handles generation and its associated terms and privacy policy.
Local data: The maker says chats, characters, lorebooks, settings, and other app data remain on the device, and the app includes no telemetry or usage tracking.
Key security: The documentation says API keys are stored in Android platform-native secure storage and sent only in requests to the configured provider.
Support: The maker directs users to Discord for questions, feedback, bug reports, and community discussion.
Downloads: The download page requires about 150 MB of storage and says getinkstone.com is the only official source for Inkstone downloads.
Maker: Inkstone is a solo project created by EverNever with community contributions.
