The record

Purpose: A Jest matcher for comparing images, commonly used for visual regression testing.
Snapshots: It saves a baseline image on the first run and compares later test images against it.
Update baselines: Jest’s `--updateSnapshot` or `-u` option updates stored image snapshots.
Comparison methods: It supports pixel-by-pixel Pixelmatch comparison and structural similarity (SSIM) comparison, which the README describes as experimental.
Thresholds: Users can set per-pixel sensitivity and an overall failure threshold measured in pixels or percent.
Noise handling: A configurable Gaussian blur can help address noise from scaling images at different resolutions.
Diff output: The matcher can create horizontal or vertical diff layouts and optionally print a base64 diff or an iTerm inline image to the console.
Installation: The README gives `npm i --save-dev jest-image-snapshot` as the installation command.
Jest compatibility: The README lists Jest versions 20 through 29 as a peer dependency and says versions below 20 are unsupported.
Browser testing: The README shows using a browser screenshot as the image input in a visual test.
CI image storage: The README provides an example reporter that uploads failed diff images to an AWS S3 bucket for ephemeral environments.
TypeScript support: The README says the community-maintained DefinitelyTyped definitions may be outdated or inaccurate and are not officially supported by the maintainers.
License: The project states that contributions are governed by the Apache License 2.0.
Maker: American Express says it was founded in 1850 and is headquartered in New York.
