Purpose: mousemap is a macOS mouse-button remapper built in Swift.
Actions: It maps mouse buttons, including extra side buttons, to keyboard combinations or shell commands.
Click behavior: Each mapping can optionally pass the original click through to apps.
Configuration: Mappings use JSON, with a default config path of ~/.config/mousemap/config.json.
App interface: The menu bar app includes a JSON settings editor that can add, edit, and remove mappings, save them, and auto-reload configuration.
Login: The menu’s Start at Login option installs a LaunchAgent pointing to the built binary.
Permission: The app requires macOS Accessibility permission to intercept and post input events for remapping.
Privacy: The maker says the app runs locally, does not collect or send data, and only reads the config file.
Distribution: The repository links an MIT license and describes building the CLI and menu bar app with Swift Package Manager.
Who it serves: The maker describes it as a macOS menu bar tool for mapping extra mouse buttons to shortcuts or shell commands.
Releases: The repository page showed no releases when opened.
