The record

Product: OSPOS is a free, open-source mobile point-of-sale app for small businesses to build menus, process transactions, track sales, and manage business from a phone.
Register and kitchen: It can send paid orders to a separate iPad or iPhone kitchen screen as numbered tickets, with timers and outstanding-item counts; kitchen tickets show no prices.
Menu tools: The menu builder supports categories, item stickers, modifier groups, sold-out toggles, discounts, and per-item tax.
Reporting and export: Sales features include daily summaries, date-range reporting, cash-versus-card reporting, and CSV export.
Payments: Card payments use the merchant's Stripe account; OSPOS says it adds 1% to Stripe's rate, while cash transactions are free.
Integrations: The maker lists Stripe for payments, Apple and Google sign-in, Resend for email delivery, and Twilio for SMS receipts, which it says is not yet enabled pending A2P registration.
Offline use: The Free Tier works offline without an account, and its data is stored locally on the device; the Help page says internet is needed for card payments, receipts, or data sync.
Data security: The privacy policy says server communications use TLS 1.2 or higher, account passwords are hashed with bcrypt, and OSPOS does not handle card data; Stripe handles payment card data under PCI DSS Level 1.
Data handling: The maker says it does not sell user data, and Free Tier data stays on-device; Paid Tier data is also stored on its servers for cloud features.
Support: The Help page invites users to email the small team for assistance at [email protected].
Limits: The site says card payments are available in the US, require iOS 16 or later, and Tap to Pay on iPhone requires iPhone XS or later.
Intended users: The maker describes OSPOS as designed for small businesses and highlights food trucks, cafes, retail shops, salons, market vendors, and mobile services.
