The record

What it does: Pouchie is a private photo-sharing app for families to share children’s photos with invited relatives and friends.
Setup: The maker says setup takes about two minutes and requires no technical knowledge.
Invites: Family members join with a six-digit code, without an email address or password.
Permissions: People can be grouped into circles with permissions to post, view, comment, or download, and access can be revoked at any time.
Grandparent experience: The app describes a simple feed, large photos, notifications for new posts, and heart reactions.
Privacy claims: The maker says photos are not sold, used for advertising, or used to train AI models.
Encryption and hosting: The app privacy policy says media is encrypted at rest, stored and processed in the European Union, and decrypted on the user’s device.
Security limit: The maker says its encryption is not zero-knowledge and that it remains technically able to decrypt media through its key service.
Infrastructure providers: The app privacy policy names Twilio, Cloudflare, Heroku, AWS, and Sentry as service providers for login codes, storage and delivery, hosting, key management, and crash reporting.
Metadata: The app privacy policy says EXIF and GPS metadata are removed from photos and videos before other people can view them.
Screenshot protection: The app privacy policy says screenshots are blocked on media screens, while noting that someone could photograph a screen with another device.
Support: Support is available by email, with replies usually within two business days in English and Portuguese.
Availability: The maker says the app is available on Android through Google Play and that the iPhone version is still being built.
Headquarters: São Paulo, Brazil
