Purpose: Pramaana is a minimalist command-line reference manager that works with BibTeX files and the Zotero Translation Server.
Reference organization: It organizes references into nested folders alongside their PDFs and other files.
URL imports: URL-based reference imports require the Zotero Translation Server to be running.
Zotero integration: It can import a specially configured BetterBibTeX export from Zotero, including attachment and collection fields.
File handling: Attachments can be copied, moved, or hardlinked, and the import default is hardlinking.
Reference operations: Commands include creating and editing references, searching, exporting, importing, and moving or copying files.
Exports: Users can configure exports with source patterns and a destination BibTeX file.
Customization: Users can configure the storage path, attachment behavior, translation server address, exports, and reference templates.
Storage limit: BibTeX is the only supported storage format in the documented configuration.
Known limitation: The README says the published Zotero Translation Server module does not work as well as the server used by Zotero itself.
Installation: The recommended installation method is pipx, which installs Pramaana in an isolated environment and makes its command available globally.
Shell support: The README documents command completion setup for bash and zsh.
