The record

What it does: Profify is a marketplace where students book tutors and coaches for lessons online or in person, with discovery, booking, lessons, and payments handled on the platform.
Who it serves: The marketplace covers academic tutoring, languages, music, computer sciences, arts and hobbies, sports, health and well-being, and career development.
Tutor discovery: Students can search by subject, city, budget, and availability, and compare profile rates, reviews, and experience.
Online classroom: Online lessons use browser-based video and a shared interactive whiteboard, with no downloads or meeting links required.
Booking and messaging: Students book from a tutor’s live calendar, and booking opens a private chat for messages, plans, and file sharing.
Homework: Tutors can set homework and share files, and students can submit work and receive feedback in the platform.
Payments: Payments are held until the lesson is confirmed as completed, after which the tutor’s payout is transferred through Stripe.
Refunds and cancellations: The FAQ says a reported tutor no-show within 72 hours of the scheduled end time is refunded in full, while cancellation at least 12 hours before a lesson is free.
Tutor listing review: A person manually reviews each tutor listing before it goes live, usually within 24 hours.
Integrations: The privacy policy names Stripe for payment processing and Google Analytics as an example of an analytics tool; it does not list other integrations on that page.
Security and privacy: The privacy policy says card details are handled by third-party processors and not stored on Profify’s servers, and that transactions are SSL-encrypted.
Privacy compliance: Profify says it processes personal data in compliance with Canada’s PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy legislation.
Support: Users can ask questions through the support chat on any page and request a human follow-up by email.
Notable lesson limits: Lessons cancelled less than 12 hours before their start are treated as used, and lessons paid for but never booked remain usable for six months before automatic refund.
