Product: Resonant is a free, open-source AI music studio and production workstation for Windows.
Workflow: It supports songwriting, local song generation, composition, performance, arrangement, mixing, analysis, and stereo WAV export.
AI generation: The optional ACE-Step 1.5 provider generates vocal songs or instrumentals locally after its model download.
Voice conversion: The optional Seed-VC provider converts an isolated vocal using a clean 1–30 second reference recording, with consent required.
Integrations: Resonant includes a local MCP server for MCP-capable assistants including Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
Instruments: The instrument library supports SoundFont presets and imports including SF2, SF3, DLS, SFZ, WAV, OGG, MP3, FLAC, and M4A.
Security and privacy: Resonant says it sends no music, recordings, lyrics, project data, prompts, or analytics to a hosted Resonant service.
MCP access limits: MCP access is confined to the user-selected project workspace, and project changes require current revisions.
License and output: The software is AGPL-3.0-only, while the maker says users may use and sell their creative output without royalties or attribution requirements.
Hardware limits: ACE-Step recommends an NVIDIA GPU with roughly 6–8 GB VRAM, and Seed-VC requires 6 GB VRAM as a practical minimum with 8 GB recommended.
Platforms: The maker lists Windows 10 or 11 x64 requirements and says macOS and Linux builds are not currently published.
Download and signing: The maker provides Windows installer and portable downloads, and says both executables are currently unsigned.
Intended users: The maker describes Resonant as a local alternative to cloud music generators, with workstation tools and an MCP server for AI assistants.
