Purpose: RSpec is a behavior-driven development framework for Ruby.
Test runner: rspec-core provides a command-line spec runner, customizable reporting, and an API for organizing code examples.
Expectations: rspec-expectations provides a readable API for expressing expected outcomes in examples.
Test doubles: rspec-mocks provides fake objects for controlling the environment in which specs run.
Rails support: rspec-rails supports testing Ruby on Rails applications in place of Rails’ built-in test framework.
Interoperability: RSpec libraries can work together or be used independently with Cucumber or Minitest.
Install: The project README says to install the main libraries with `gem install rspec`.
Documentation: The documentation site lists API documentation and executable Gherkin examples for RSpec libraries.
Compatibility limits: The documentation recommends relying on public APIs because private APIs may change in any release without warning.
Support: The help page recommends the RSpec mailing list for general support and development questions, and GitHub issues for project bugs.
Security: The project repository links to a security policy.
History: RSpec began in 2005 as an experiment by Steven Baker and released version 1.0 in May 2007.
Community: The project says it continues to evolve through community input and the work of hundreds of contributors.
