The record

Purpose: VaudTax is an online service for completing and submitting a tax return to the Vaud tax authority.
Access: The service is available 24 hours a day on smartphones, tablets, and computers and requires no installation.
Accessibility: The online service is accessible to people with visual impairments.
Import: Users can import data from a 2024 return saved with the former VaudTax software as a .tax file or from the online service as a .vaudtax file.
Bank data: Importing an original PDF eRelevé fiscal with the required barcode page can automatically fill certain forms for securities and debts.
Assistance: The service provides an improved help function, video tutorials, and discovery sessions organized by the cantonal tax administration.
Related service: VaudTax provides direct access to the e-ACO service for changing tax instalments.
Data handling: The tax authority says saved information is treated confidentially and that electronic returns are sent to its server securely and encrypted.
Hosting and security: Data is hosted in the State of Vaud's data centers; transmission uses HTTPS, access is limited to authorized staff subject to tax secrecy, and security controls and audits are performed regularly.
Manual saving: Entered information is not saved automatically; users must save a .vaudtax file to their device to preserve their work.
Legacy software: The VaudTax desktop software is no longer produced for tax year 2025, and taxpayers are directed to use the online service.
Submission: Returns can be submitted electronically through VaudTax; the page also describes printing and mailing a return as an option.
Support limit: The tax administration says it cannot provide technical information about other approved tax software.
