With all of the Galaxy S4 variants announced before the June 20th event, there are very few leaks left to be made official at the event. The latest leak and probably the most likely one have now been Galaxy Camera 2. According to the Digital Daily Korean publication, Samsung will reveal its next generation Galaxy Camera at the June 20th Samsung Premiere event in London. The report says it will be an Android powered mirror-less digital camera.
According to the report in Digital Daily, the device will go on sale in July. Not much is known about the camera, but the report says it will be Wi-Fi enabled one. We also expect the camera to be data enabled via SIM card like its predecessor.
To remind you, the original Galaxy Camera came with 4.8 inch HD Super Clear LCD display with 306 PPI pixel density and was powered by 1.4 GHz Exynos 4412 Quad core processor, Mali 400MP GPU, 1 GB RAM and 4 GB internal storage with Micro SD card slot expansion up to 64 GB. It came with 16.3 MP auto focus camera with pop-up Xenon Flash and 21x optical zoom and 1650 mAh battery.
The original Galaxy Camera was thick at 19.1 mm and heavy at 300g and came with dual band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, micro USB v2.0, HDMI port, A-GPS and GLONASS. It also supported 3G/LTE with micro SIM and was capable of recording video at 1080p@30fps and 512p@120fps. It ran Android 4.1 Jelly Bean which was upgradeable to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS. It comes in Black, White, Pink and Orange color and is available to buy at Amazon for about USD 430.
We expect the new Galaxy Camera 2 to come with better internals and jazzy externals. It should be lighter and thinner than its predecessor and should come with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 as compared to Galaxy Camera’s Gorilla Glass 2. One thing which was seriously lacking in the original Galaxy Camera was its battery capacity and its inability to make calls. It remains to be seen how Samsung will choose to overcome these issues for its latest 2nd generation Galaxy Camera.
The Samsung Premiere 2013 event press release by Samsung has clearly indicated something with a zoom ring to be revealed at the eventand with Galaxy S4 Zoom already official, it is very likely we will be seeing this new exciting camera at the event launch.
