It was expected that Computex 2012 will add up some more Ultrabooks in the tally and it happened. With Windows 8 coming close towards the launch date, giants of the computer segment showed their Ultrabooks which will run Windows 8. We saw some great amount of innovation involved in the development of some Ultrabooks. We are definitely waiting for these Ultrabooks to arrive in the market.
Here we are going to discuss about the Ultrabooks which earned a lot of reputation at Computex 2012.
ULTRABOOKS AT COMPUTEX 2012
After remaining in the worlds of chips and boards Asus started to come up with computing solutions a few years back. So far Asus has impressed everyone and is in no mood to look behind. Asus already stepped up in the Ultrabook sector in the first quarter of this year, but Asus Taichi at Computex 2012 was a real innovation.
Asus Taichi features a dual IPS HD Display. User will be able to use Taichi as an Ultrabook as well as a tablet. This is really something which can make place in the future. We can see same kind of device coming from the other brands too.

The Acer Aspire S7 will come up with an innovative feature i.e. the display of the Ultrabook will be touch enabled. It will go for sale in two different display sizes – 13.3 inch and 11.6 inch.
Rather than its touch support, Acer Aspire S7 counter got more visitors because of its looks. This Windows 8 device has got a unique design which looks premium. Backlight of Aspire S7 series is one of the features of Ultrabook. The backlight of the Acer Aspire S7 Ultrabook is light-sensitive. It adjusts according to the lighting conditions of the surrounding. Acer has also come up with Twin Air cooling system for both the Ultrabooks. It keeps the temperature in control.
The hardware specification of the device wasn’t revealed at the event. But we are expecting something big from this wonder.
Lenovo X1 Carbon
The body of Lenovo X1 Carbon is made up of carbon fiber. The carbon build makes this Ultrabook light, strong and stiff. This 14-inch Ultrabook weighs just three pounds and is just 18 mm thick.
Not just the Carbon body, but Lenovo X1 Carbon has got deep backlit ThinkPad keyboard. It has got a smooth trackpad and also an eraser head pointer with real mouse buttons. It has got USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, a Mini Display Port socket, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a fingerprint reader and a SD card slot. Toshiba Satellite U845W (U840W outside US)
We talked about the innovations beginning. This time Toshiba came up with an innovating Ultrabook. Toshiba’s Satellite U845W is the first Ultrabook with display of 21:9 i.e. resolution of 1792×768 pixels. The U845W’s display is of 14 inches when measured diagonally.
Thickness at 0.81 inches, the Toshiba Satellite U845W is a bit thicker than other Ultrabooks out there. It is powered by Intel’s Ivy Bridger processors and can have RAM up to 10GB. Samsung Series 5 Ultra Convertible
The Samsung Ultra Convertible reminds us of Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga. The display of the Ultrabook can fold back 360 degrees touching the ventilation system. This allows you to use the device as an Ultrabook as well as a Tablet PC. The Series 5 Ultra Convertible has got the touch display of 13 inches. The resolution of the display is 1366×768 pixels.

Asus Transformer Book
Asus Transformer Book is another innovation from Asus. It is an Ultrabook which has got a detachable display. The display works as a Tablet when removed from the keyboard. Though we have seen such innovation from Asus in the Android devices but this will be the first Windows 8 device which will offer such a feature.
The Transformer Book will be powered by Intel’s 3rd generation Core i7, i5, and i3 processors. It will have 4GB of RAM and Nvidia graphics. It is having a full HD IPS display. The Transformer Book will ship in three different display (size) options i.e. 11.6, 13 and 14 inch.
The price of The Transformer Book wasn’t revealed. Considering the competition going up to this level we can say that this one will be priced around $900.
NEC LaVie Z
NEC is one of the upcoming manufacturers. It hasn’t got big branding like Samsung or Dell but they have started taking some steps. The NEC LaVie Z was the lightest of all the 13-inch Ultrabooks at Computex 2012. This Ultrabook weighs just 2.2 pounds. This is because of the shell of the LaVie Z as it’s made up of lithium-magnesium alloy which also makes it a bit tough than the others.
Neither the Specification nor the price of the NEC LaVie Z was revealed. It seems like this will be the cheapest of all as NEC would try to gather some audience in the market and for that price tag matters the most.
