Overview

The system brings constituent and agency records together with relationship histories, interaction logs, notes, and follow-ups. That gives agency staff a shared record of engagement rather than treating each touchpoint as a separate task. Its grant workflow spans applications, committee review, approvals, awards, and post-award compliance milestones, making it a closer fit for program administration than a contact database alone.

Dashboards and reports help teams communicate outcomes to leadership and the public. The AI assistant answers natural-language questions about CRM data, which may help staff find answers without building a report for every query. Organizational data is encrypted and isolated so each organization sees only its own records.

Key features

Constituent and agency records: Relationship histories and stakeholder tracking give teams a record of who they serve and how they have engaged.
Interaction tracking: Staff can log touchpoints, notes, and follow-ups, supporting continuity across a team.
Grant management: Applications, committee review, approvals, awards, and compliance milestones cover the process from submission through post-award oversight.
AI assistant and reporting: Natural-language questions about CRM data sit alongside dashboards and reports for communicating program impact.
Integrations: Pro includes API access and a Claude connector. Starter includes the Claude connector only during its free trial, so it should not be treated as an ongoing Starter integration.

Pricing

ASAI Engage is freemium, with a 30-day trial and paid plans billed monthly by credit card after the trial. The trial requires no credit card; when it ends, the account becomes read-only and its data is retained for 90 days. That retention window gives an agency time to retrieve records, but ongoing work requires a paid plan.

Plan	Price and limits	Best fit
Starter	$49.00 USD per month; 1 user, 100 contacts, 10 organizations, unlimited free reviewer seats.	A single-user agency testing a bounded program or constituent workflow. The contact and organization caps may constrain a broader department.
Pro	$149.00 USD per month; 5 users, 1,000 contacts, 100 organizations, unlimited free reviewer seats. Includes API access, Claude connector, and priority support.	A small team needing more capacity, integrations, and priority support. Five users and the finite contact and organization quotas still set a clear ceiling.
Enterprise	Custom pricing; unlimited users and contacts, multi-site support, and a dedicated account manager. Annual invoicing is available.	Agencies with multiple sites or larger-scale records and staffing needs; custom pricing means costs need to be established before adoption.

Grant reviewer seats are free and unlimited on every plan, and do not count toward user limits. This is a practical advantage for agencies that bring committee members into reviews without needing to license each as a regular user. The About page describes a permanent free tier, while the Engage pricing page presents Starter and Pro as paid plans after a 30-day trial; agencies should confirm the Engage-specific free option before relying on it for ongoing work.

Platforms

ASAI Engage runs on the web and offers API access on Pro. It is cloud-deployed, so agencies seeking a self-hosted deployment or a native mobile app should look elsewhere.

Who it's for

Economic development, business retention, and workforce teams are the clearest fit, particularly where staff need to manage constituent relationships alongside grant and program administration. Starter suits one-user operations with modest records; Pro is more appropriate when several staff need access. Agencies with larger teams, multiple sites, or extensive records should consider Enterprise, while departments needing only casework or a broader mobile platform may find this more than they need.

Pros and cons

Pros

Grant workflows are unusually complete for a CRM: Review, approval, awards, and compliance milestones connect the grant lifecycle in one system.
Unlimited free reviewer seats: Committees can participate without consuming the plan's regular user allowance.
Impact reporting is built in: Dashboards and reports support communicating outcomes to leadership and the public.
Clear upgrade path for scale: Enterprise removes user and contact caps and adds multi-site support.

Cons

Starter is tightly capped: One user, 100 contacts, and 10 organizations may be restrictive for an agency-wide rollout.
Pro still has firm limits: Five users, 1,000 contacts, and 100 organizations require careful sizing as a program grows.
Trial access does not continue as normal: After 30 days, the account is read-only, with data retained for 90 days.
Enterprise costs require a quote: Agencies cannot compare its price directly without requesting custom pricing.

Alternatives

For a wider public sector CRM shortlist, compare the approaches below:

ContactWise CRM Constituent Edition is a paid option with a free trial and API, iOS, Linux, web, and Windows platforms; consider it if platform breadth matters more than ASAI's stated grant workflow.
Parthenon is a paid, trial-based option with Android, iOS, and web support. Its Reach 1k plan costs $19.00 USD per month for up to 1,000 contacts and one user license, with an SMS add-on and a .gov email requirement; it may suit a single-user operation prioritizing lower monthly cost and that contact allowance.
Nagrik Political Suite is a paid option with a free trial and Android, iOS, self-hosted, and web platforms; consider it if self-hosting or mobile platforms are a priority.
Pega Government Platform is a paid, contact-for-pricing option across web, mobile, desktop, and self-hosted platforms. It is not turnkey: agencies configure or extend components to their needs, so it is better suited to teams prepared for that work.
Casework has a free plan and web and API platforms; consider it when a free casework-oriented option is the priority.
eCasework is a paid, trial-based option for Android, iOS, and web; consider it when mobile access is important.
CaseMate is a paid, trial-based web option; consider it if a web-based alternative is suitable.
Salesboom is a paid, trial-based CRM for web, iOS, and Android; consider it if those platforms better match the team's needs.

Verdict

ASAI Engage for Government is a strong fit for agencies that want constituent records, end-to-end grant workflows, and impact reporting in the same cloud CRM. Unlimited reviewer seats and Pro's integrations strengthen the case for teams running committee-based programs. Choose it only after checking the Starter or Pro caps against the agency's needs and planning for the post-trial read-only period; teams needing self-hosting, native mobile access, or predictable Enterprise pricing should look elsewhere.
