Overview

Cargo treats go-to-market operations as workflows to define and deploy, rather than as isolated routing rules. That makes it a strong candidate for teams that want developers to manage repeatable sales processes alongside their code. It is a less natural fit for buyers looking for a simple routing tool with a fixed, predictable usage allowance.

Key features

Its building blocks include agents, context, tools, data models, plays, territories, and apps. Together with lead qualification, territory routing, round-robin assignment, workflow automation, and webhook support, these primitives give teams scope to coordinate lead intake and follow-through, not just assign leads.

Workflows can start on triggers or schedules, retry failed steps, and provide a trace of each run. Retries and run traces are useful for recurring processes that need a way to recover from errors and inspect execution. The Cargo CDK uses TypeScript definitions to preview changes, deploy declaratively, and roll back workspace resources; that workflow will appeal most to teams comfortable managing infrastructure through code.

Cargo lists compatibility with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI, Devin, and Replicas. It also lists more than 100 integrations, including HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack, Apollo.io, OpenAI, and Anthropic. The breadth can connect automation across common sales and AI tools, though the 100-credit plan does not include all integrations.

Security measures Cargo says it maintains include a SOC 2 Type II report, encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, backups, monitoring, and vulnerability management. It also says Slack data and Customer Content are not used to train foundation models. Support ranges from community on the 100-credit tier to email, priority, and dedicated support on higher-credit tiers.

Pricing

Cargo has a free plan and paid plans from $165/mo. Credits are shared across enrichment actions, orchestration steps, and storage inserts: 100 orchestration steps or 1,000 storage inserts consume one credit. That makes the headline credit allowance important to estimate against actual workflow activity, rather than treating it as a simple seat count.

100 credits: 0.00 USD per month, with up to 100 enrichment credits, 10K orchestration steps, 100K storage inserts, and community support. It is a useful starting point for small-scale evaluation, but excludes the all-integrations and email-support benefits listed on paid tiers.
1.5K credits: 165.00 USD per month, with all 100+ integrations and email support. This is the entry paid tier for teams that need the broader integration set.
2.5K credits: 250.00 USD per month, with all 100+ integrations and email support. It suits teams that need a larger credit allowance while retaining the same stated support level.
17K credits: 1190.00 USD per month, with all 100+ integrations and priority support. The higher allowance and support level are aimed at larger usage needs.
50K+ credits: 3000.00 USD per month, with all 100+ integrations and dedicated support, for teams needing the largest listed allowance and an assigned support level.

When credits are exhausted, existing workflows pause until credits are added; Cargo says no data is lost. That pause can interrupt operations, so teams should account for consumption before relying on workflows. Cargo offers a free trial and says customers unhappy within the first 14 days can contact the company for a full refund.

Platforms

Cargo is available on web and through an API. Those options suit teams integrating it into their own systems or managing it through a browser.

Who it's for

Cargo is best for technical go-to-market teams that want coding agents and Git-based definitions to drive lead qualification, routing, and related workflows. Teams that need broad integrations, execution traces, retries, and developer controls have a clear reason to consider it. Buyers who prioritize predictable, uninterrupted execution or a conventional routing setup should weigh the credit-based pause behavior carefully.

Pros and cons

Pros: Git-based workflow definitions and a TypeScript CDK support declarative deployment, previews, and rollbacks.
Pros: Triggers, schedules, retries, and run traces provide useful control over recurring automated processes.
Pros: More than 100 integrations and compatibility with several coding agents suit teams working across sales and AI tools.
Cons: Credits are consumed by multiple kinds of activity, so usage needs monitoring rather than being judged by workflow steps alone.
Cons: Workflows pause at credit exhaustion, which can disrupt operations until more credits are added.
Cons: The free tier has community support and does not include the all-integrations benefit stated for paid plans.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison of routing tools, see Lead Routing Software.

Choose Lead Dispatcher if you want a web-based alternative with a free Starter plan that specifies up to five reps, smart routing rules, Slack dispatch, HubSpot integration, and basic analytics. 91Leads CRM may suit readers who prefer an option spanning mobile and web, with a free allowance of 1,000 video-call minutes per calendar month before per-minute charges apply.

Mixdesk is another freemium option, with a free plan capped at 10 conversations, 10 connected channel accounts, 100 translation characters, and no AI messages; its Essential plan is 49.00 USD per month. Consider Distributely if you want a web-based freemium routing option with annual and monthly plans.

Kriatix Lead Qualification Chatbot is an alternative for readers focused on lead qualification. Leadspace offers a free Starter plan with one seat, 25 credits per day, and 100 monthly CSV and CRM exports; consider it if those limits align with your needs. Badger Lead Routing is another option, with a listed $16.00 USD per month plan billed annually and a minimum of five licenses. For real-estate lead distribution, consider Follow Up Boss, whose Grow plan includes lead-source and website connections, lead distribution, Smart Lists, Action Plans, and calling.

Verdict

Cargo is a strong choice for technical go-to-market teams that want to define workflows in Git, operate them through coding agents, and connect them to a broad integration set. Its developer controls and execution features make it more than a routing utility. Look elsewhere if credit monitoring and the possibility of paused workflows are unacceptable for your operations.
