Overview

Cozi is a family organizer from Seattle-based Cozi, which began in 2005. A color-coded shared calendar, grocery and task lists, and recipe and meal-planning tools cover much of the routine work of keeping a household coordinated. It is a focused household tool rather than a place to manage separate permissions for different members.

One account can include up to 12 family members, and each can view, add, edit, and delete account data. That makes it workable for a large household, but not for families that need some members to have read-only or limited access. Calendar feeds to and from Google Calendar, Outlook, and Apple Calendar are read-only, so Cozi is a weaker fit when changes need to sync in both directions.

Key features

Calendar and lists

The shared calendar supports reminders and agenda emails, giving members ways to keep upcoming plans visible. Grocery lists can be shared or emailed to someone picking up groceries. Shared to-do, chore, packing, and other lists have no stated cap, which gives households room to organize different routines without relying on a single checklist.

Recipes and meals

The recipe library supports weekly dinner planning, and ingredients can be added to a shopping list. That connection is useful for households planning meals and groceries together; it is more than a calendar-and-chores tool, though the feature set remains centered on family coordination.

Support and privacy

Cozi directs support requests to email rather than phone, while Gold subscribers receive priority email support. Its privacy policy identifies OurFamilyWizard, LLC as the controller of personal data processed through the platforms and describes collecting account details such as names, email addresses, and IP addresses.

Pricing

Cozi is freemium, with a free plan and two annual subscriptions. Cozi Free costs 0.00 USD per free and includes a shared family calendar, automatic notifications, shared grocery and to-do lists, and a recipe library. It covers core household coordination without a subscription, but does not include Gold's ad-free experience or Max's AI tools.

Cozi Gold costs 39.00 USD per year, billed annually. It includes everything in Free, removes ads, adds premium features, and allows up to three reminders per event. One subscription covers everyone in the account, so the upgrade is not priced per family member. Gold fits households that want extra reminders and the paid features without the AI additions.

Cozi Max costs 79.00 USD per year, billed annually, and includes everything in Gold plus AI Event Import, AI Recipe Creator, and AI Meal Planner. It is the tier for families who specifically want those AI tools; households satisfied with shared calendars, lists, recipes, and up to three reminders per event can avoid the higher price with Gold or Free.

A two-week Gold trial is available when a subscription is started on the web. App store subscriptions do not offer the trial, so the purchase route matters if a household wants to try Gold first.

Platforms

Cozi is available on the web and through iOS and Android apps. It also supports read-only calendar feeds involving Google Calendar, Outlook, and Apple Calendar. Video meeting support is available, although Cozi's core purpose is coordinating family schedules and household tasks.

Who it's for

Cozi is a sensible choice for households that want calendars, shopping and to-do lists, and meal planning together, especially those that can use the free tier or share one paid subscription. Its 12-member account limit accommodates larger families, and the list tools support a range of household routines.

Look elsewhere if household members need different access rights or if calendar changes must synchronize both ways. The account gives every included member the ability to edit and delete data, and calendar feeds are read-only.

Pros and cons

Pros: The free plan combines calendar, notifications, grocery and to-do lists, and recipes, giving households a useful starting point without a subscription.
Pros: One Gold or Max subscription covers everyone in an account of up to 12 members, rather than requiring a separate subscription for each person.
Pros: Recipe ingredients can go onto a shopping list, linking meal planning with grocery coordination.
Cons: Read-only calendar feeds do not provide two-way synchronization with Google Calendar, Outlook, or Apple Calendar.
Cons: All account members can view, add, edit, and delete data; Cozi has no restricted-access option for included family members.
Cons: Support is by email, not phone, and the Gold trial is unavailable through app store subscriptions.
