Overview

Journey Builder combines journey mapping with emotional curves, effort-versus-impact prioritization, pain-versus-opportunity balance and moments of truth. Those views help teams move from documenting an experience to deciding which issues deserve attention, although prioritization still depends on the team’s judgment. A map can also be switched into a service blueprint with fields for frontstage and backstage actors, support processes and physical evidence, connecting customer-facing steps to service operations.

Ten templates cover use cases including onboarding, ecommerce, complaint resolution, B2B and healthcare. Teams can import documents and customer feedback from PDF, DOCX, text and CSV files, but the product names no third-party customer-data integrations. Exports include HTML, JSON, PDF and PowerPoint; branded PDF and PowerPoint exports require Starter or above.

Key features

AI and feedback

Paid plans use AI to generate personas, journey stages, insights and action plans. Pro and Enterprise add AI analysis of imported documents and reviews, a meaningful distinction for teams that want to bring existing feedback into the mapping process. Free has no AI access, and the paid-workspace routing can use configured providers such as Claude, Gemini or self-hosted Ollama. Because AI runs only when invoked, it is an optional workflow rather than an automatic background process.

Security and administration

The maker says the app and primary data are hosted in the EU and describes Supabase authentication, row-level security, server-side authorization and role-based workspace access. It offers GDPR-related documents and self-service data export and deletion. Organizations that require certified controls should note that the product does not currently claim SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification. Pro adds a workspace audit log; Enterprise includes priority support and an SLA, while SSO/SAML is on the roadmap.

Pricing

The free plan costs 0.00 EUR per month and allows one user, three journey maps and 10 version snapshots. It includes manual mapping, templates and JSON, HTML, PDF and PPTX export, making it a practical way for an individual to try the mapping and blueprint workflow. It does not include AI, and the one-user cap rules it out for collaborative work.

Starter costs 29.00 EUR per month, billed €290/yr, with the launch price locked for 12 months. It raises the allowance to 10 maps and up to three teammates, adds 2,000 AI credits a month and provides AI-generated personas, stages, insights and actions. Branded PDF/PPTX exports and 50 version snapshots make it the sensible step up for a small team that needs shareable deliverables, though the map and credit caps remain.

Pro costs 79.00 EUR per month, billed €790/yr, with the launch price locked for 12 months. It removes the map limit, supports up to 10 teammates and includes 20,000 monthly AI credits, document and review import with AI, an audit log and stronger AI routing. It fits teams doing regular feedback analysis or managing larger mapping portfolios; its higher price and 10-seat ceiling may be excessive for occasional or very small projects.

Enterprise has custom pricing and offers unlimited journeys, seats and version history, custom AI credits, priority support and an SLA. It is the tier for organizations that need scale and a defined support commitment; SSO/SAML is not yet included as a current capability. A 7-day trial is available. The maker directs customers to its help center and contact page for guides, product support, beta access and feedback.

Platforms

Customer Journey App runs on the web, so teams can use it through a browser rather than a dedicated desktop or mobile app.

Who it's for

The product is aimed at CX and service-design consultants, in-house CX/PX and insights teams, and healthcare and service-experience teams. Its combination of diagnostics, blueprint fields and presentation exports is useful when mapping needs to support both analysis and operational discussion. It is less suitable for teams that depend on named third-party customer-data integrations, certified SOC 2 or ISO 27001 controls, or more than 10 seats without moving to Enterprise.

Pros and cons

Pros: Journey diagnostics pair emotional mapping with several prioritization lenses, helping teams identify issues rather than merely record steps.
Pros: Blueprint fields and 10 varied industry templates support service-design work across different contexts.
Pros: Free includes four export formats and manual mapping, while paid tiers add collaboration and AI in clear increments.
Cons: The free plan is limited to one user and three maps, with no AI, so it is only a solo starting point.
Cons: Starter and Pro cap teams at three and 10 members respectively; larger teams need custom-priced Enterprise.
Cons: The product does not name third-party customer-data integrations and does not currently claim SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, browse Customer Journey Mapping Software. Milkymap is worth considering for a single-user setup that includes an iOS option, while Smaply suits readers looking for a web-based freemium alternative. JourneyTrack is another web option with a free trial, and Custellence offers a free forever plan for small workspaces. CX Impact is the free alternative for readers who prefer an MIT-licensed project. René Studio is another freemium web choice with AI credits on its free plan. UXPressia offers a free plan with maps, personas and impact maps, while Journify offers unlimited collaborators on its free tier alongside active-journey and AI limits.

Verdict

Choose Customer Journey App if your CX or service-design work needs journey diagnosis, blueprinting and reporting in one web workspace, and you can work within its seat and AI allowances. Its free plan makes manual mapping accessible, while Starter and Pro add collaboration and analysis capabilities. Look elsewhere if certified security controls, extensive external data integrations or a larger team without an Enterprise agreement are essential.
