Overview

Evite is a digital invitation service for hosts who want guest responses and follow-up in one place. It is strongest for casual gatherings and occasional events, with paid options for larger guest lists and repeat hosting. The main trade-off is that free invitations have a small stated guest cap, while larger single events require a package.

Key features

Invitations and guest management

Hosts can customize invitations and send them by email, text, or link, then track RSVPs, message guests, and send automatic reminders. That combination helps keep replies and changes attached to the event rather than scattered across separate conversations. The Free plan covers up to 12 guests; larger lists need a paid package or Evite Pro.

Event Pages and coordination

Free Event Pages are designed for casual gatherings and work in a phone, tablet, or desktop browser. Hosts can create pages and guests can RSVP without downloading an app, useful when invitees have different devices or do not want another installation. Sign-up sheets let guests claim potluck items or volunteer slots, adding basic coordination to the RSVP page.

Cards and design

Digital greeting cards can be scheduled or sent immediately by text or email. Hosts can upload invitation designs, and Evite says its Canva app can send a design directly to Evite. Premium invitations remove ads and add a matching envelope, stamps, and additional photo and text cards; their price depends on guest-list size. These options suit hosts who care about a more finished invitation, but they are separate from the free Event Page experience.

Pricing

Evite is freemium. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes free invitations and Event Pages; premium invitation prices vary by guest-list size. Its stated guest limit is 12, making it best for small gatherings.

Single-event packages are priced as follows: Silver is 17.99 USD per month (billed) for 12 guests; Gold is 36.99 USD per month (billed) for 30 guests; Platinum is 68.99 USD per month (billed) for 75 guests; and Diamond is 99.99 USD per month (billed) for 750 guests. These packages scale up capacity without an annual commitment, but each is for a single event, so they are a poor fit for someone hosting throughout the year.

Evite Pro is 249.99 USD per year (billed annually) and allows up to 2,500 guests per invitation. It is aimed at hosts with multiple events a year, including businesses, schools, clubs, organizations, and weddings. For occasional, modest gatherings, the free tier or a single-event package is a more proportionate choice.

Platforms

Evite lists apps for Android and iOS. Event Pages can also be created in a browser on a phone, tablet, or desktop, and guests can RSVP without installing an app. That browser access is a practical advantage for mixed-device guest lists.

Who it's for

Evite suits people organizing casual get-togethers who want invitations, RSVPs, reminders, and simple guest coordination together. It also fits larger or recurring hosts through its scaled packages and Pro subscription. It is less compelling for a tiny event that needs only a message, or for frequent hosts who find per-event packages cumbersome and do not need Pro's capacity.

Pros and cons

Pros

Multiple ways to reach guests: email, text, and link delivery make it easier to accommodate different communication preferences.
Coordination beyond the RSVP: messaging, reminders, and sign-up sheets can help manage follow-up and contributions in one event workflow.
Browser-based guest access: guests can RSVP to Event Pages without downloading an app.
Capacity for large events: Diamond supports 750 guests per single event, while Pro allows up to 2,500 guests per invitation.

Cons

Small free-plan cap: 12 guests limits the free invitation option to intimate gatherings.
Single-event packages do not cover repeat use: hosts planning several events must consider Pro's annual subscription or handle each event separately.
Premium invitation costs vary: guest-list size affects pricing, making the more decorative option less predictable than a free Event Page.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see Invitation Maker Software, AI Invitation Generators, and Event Management Software.

Paperless Post is worth considering for card invitations with pay-per-guest pricing; its free feature set includes the first 50 invitations by email or phone.
Partiful is another freemium option if a free core platform matters, with optional paid premium invite designs and a fee for ticket purchases.
Smilebox may suit someone whose priority is creating slideshows, which its free offering describes.
AInviter is an alternative for AI-generated invitation designs, with a free event allowance of about 12 RSVPs and shareable link and QR-code distribution.
Greenvelope may fit hosts seeking a paid invitation service with a free trial and single-mailing or annual membership options.
InviteDrop offers a free allowance of five invitations per event with RSVP tracking and email or text delivery, making it an option for small events.
Punchbowl is another paid option with a seven-day membership trial that begins a subscription unless canceled.
OpenRSVP is a free, self-hosted alternative.

Verdict

Choose Evite for casual events where invitations, guest replies, reminders, and basic coordination belong together, especially if browser access for guests matters. Its free Event Pages are the clearest starting point, while Pro serves recurring hosts with larger audiences. Look elsewhere if the 12-guest free cap is too restrictive and per-event packages or an annual subscription do not suit how often you host.
