Overview

TaxBandits handles electronic filing for business and employment tax forms, from 1099s and W-2s to 94x, ACA 1095, W-9, and BOI reports. It is best suited to businesses and tax professionals managing recurring forms or connecting filing workflows to other systems. Its validation and import tools are useful strengths, but payroll subscriptions do not cover annual W-2 and 1099 filings.

Key features

Import and validation

Bulk uploads through CSV templates can reduce repetitive data entry, and uploaded W-9 PDFs can use AI to extract recipient information. IRS business-rule and schema checks, TIN matching, and USPS address validation help flag common data issues before filing. These tools are particularly useful for high-volume workflows, though they do not eliminate the need to review records and resolve errors.

Integrations and API

TaxBandits integrates with Sage Intacct, Karbon, QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho Books, FreshBooks, and Zapier. Its API supports e-filing workflows for W-9, 1099, W-2, and TIN Matching, among other functions. That breadth can suit service providers and finance teams that want filing connected to their existing systems; readers with only occasional filings may not need the integration options.

Security and mobile collection

TaxBandits says it is SOC 2 certified and encrypts client data both in storage and in transit. Accounts can enable two-factor authentication through an authenticator app. Its Companion app for iOS and Android supports W-9 and W-8 management; downloading and installing it is free, and collection is unlimited and free. That makes it a useful collection channel, rather than a substitute for the separately priced filing workflows.

Pricing

TaxBandits combines monthly payroll subscriptions with filing charges that depend on form volume. Payroll plans include unlimited pay runs and a $0 employee fee, but annual W-2 and 1099 filings cost extra. Federal 1099 and W-2 e-filing starts at $2.75 per form for the first 10 forms, with lower per-form prices at higher volumes.

Basic: 19.00 USD per month, with unlimited pay runs and a $0 employee fee.
Plus: 29.00 USD per month, with unlimited pay runs and a $0 employee fee.
Basic Payroll: 19.00 USD per month, with unlimited payroll runs and pay stubs and a $0 employee fee. Annual W-2 and 1099 filings cost extra.
Plus Payroll: 29.00 USD per month, includes Basic, and has a $0 employee fee. Annual W-2 and 1099 filings cost extra.

A 30-day free trial is offered for payroll. The separate per-form filing charges matter when estimating total cost, especially for employers who expect to file many year-end forms. The Companion app's free W-9/W-8 collection can cover that intake task without a collection fee.

Platforms

TaxBandits supports web, Android, iOS, API, and extension access. The mobile app is focused on W-9/W-8 management, while the API is intended for integrating supported e-filing workflows.

Who it's for

Business owners, tax professionals, and service providers can use TaxBandits for tax form preparation, filing, tax payments, reconciliation, and year-end forms across federal and state jurisdictions. It is a stronger fit for organizations handling repeat or bulk workflows than for someone seeking a single, fixed-cost annual filing package. Teams choosing it for payroll should budget separately for annual W-2 and 1099 submissions.

Pros and cons

Pros: CSV bulk uploads and W-9 PDF extraction can reduce manual entry for recipient data.
Pros: IRS checks, TIN matching, and USPS address validation address several common filing-data problems.
Pros: Integrations and an API provide options for linking filing to accounting and workflow systems.
Pros: The Companion app offers unlimited free W-9/W-8 collection.
Cons: Payroll subscriptions exclude annual W-2 and 1099 filing, so payroll cost alone does not capture year-end filing expense.
Cons: Federal 1099 and W-2 filing is priced by form volume, making total filing cost dependent on the number of forms submitted.

Verdict

TaxBandits is a strong choice for businesses and tax professionals who need repeatable form filing, data checks, and connections to accounting or workflow tools. Its strongest case is combining bulk intake and validation with a broad e-filing workflow. Look elsewhere if you need payroll pricing that already includes year-end W-2 and 1099 filings, or if a flat annual cost matters more than per-form pricing.
