Overview

Farm-Ledger combines farm accounts with records for fields, equipment, and production. It is best suited to operators who want Schedule F-oriented recordkeeping and offline phone entry; the lack of bank feeds and payroll makes it a poor fit when either is central to the workflow.

Its breadth is useful for farms that want financial and operational records together, while its cash-basis default and separate receivable and payable tracking provide a clear accounting shape.

Key features

Accounts and tax records

Expenses can be tagged to IRS Schedule F categories, and a one-click year-end summary helps organize tax records. Accounting is cash-basis by default, with accounts receivable and payable tracked separately. Farm-Ledger exports Schedule F, 4562, 4835, and 943 summaries as CSV or PDF, which gives users portable records for their tax workflow without replacing that workflow.

Operational records

Field tools cover acres, crops, yields, rotations, and chemical application logs. Equipment records include service hours, maintenance costs, and capital asset depreciation. The product also tracks hay cuttings, grain movements and bushels, and livestock head counts, sales, and feeding. That range makes it more useful than a ledger alone for operators keeping production details with their accounts.

Compliance, mobile use, and data

Pesticide tools cover REI and PHI windows, applicator licenses, and 50-state overlays. Mobile-first entry works offline, and Farm-Ledger installs as a PWA on iPhone and Android, a practical advantage where connectivity is unreliable. Users can export records as CSV or PDF at any time, and the site says users own their data.

Integration gaps

Bank feeds and payroll are unavailable. Farms that rely on synced transactions or want payroll in the same system should look elsewhere or plan for separate tools and additional recordkeeping.

Pricing

The free Starter plan is free and is aimed at solo operators. It gives a no-cost starting point, but Farm-Ledger’s plan information does not establish a seat or usage cap, so do not assume those limits.

Farm costs 25.00 USD per month and is aimed at a full farm. Enterprise costs 99.00 USD per month and is aimed at multi-user teams. Annual plans include a 20% discount. The paid tiers are the relevant choices for farms beyond the Starter audience, but the plan information does not break down feature differences between them. The stated starting price is $25/mo.

Platforms

Farm-Ledger is available on web, Android, and iOS. Its PWA installation and offline mobile support make phone entry possible without a persistent connection.

Who it's for

Farm-Ledger fits solo operators through multi-user teams that want farm finances, tax-oriented summaries, and operational records in one product. It is especially relevant for farms tracking fields, equipment, livestock, hay, or grain alongside income and expenses. It is less suitable for operations that depend on bank feeds or payroll integration.

Pros and cons

Pros

Schedule F tagging and exports for Schedule F, 4562, 4835, and 943 help organize tax-oriented records.
Field, equipment, livestock, hay, and grain tracking bring operational records together with accounts.
Offline mobile entry and CSV or PDF exports support field use and portable recordkeeping.
A free Starter plan gives solo operators a no-cost entry point.

Cons

No bank feeds means transaction syncing is not part of the workflow.
No payroll means farms needing payroll alongside accounts must use another solution.
Cash-basis accounting by default may not fit every farm's accounting approach.

Verdict

Farm-Ledger is a strong fit for farms that want field-to-ledger records, Schedule F-oriented exports, and mobile entry that works offline, with a free starting point for solo operators. Choose it when those strengths outweigh the need for bank feeds or payroll; look elsewhere if either integration is essential to your day-to-day accounting.
