Overview

Freshmarketer is a web and API marketing platform for sales and marketing teams coordinating campaigns and customer journeys. It is strongest for businesses that want automation, audience segmentation, and native CRM connections across several channels. The free plan offers a low-risk starting point, but its small quotas and the suspension rule after the trial make planning ahead important.

Key features

Freshmarketer reaches customers through email, SMS, WhatsApp, live chat, social campaigns, and messaging services including Apple Message for Business, Google Business Messages, LINE, Instagram direct messages, and Facebook Messenger. Teams can automate email, SMS, WhatsApp, transactional email, chat campaigns, chatbots, and real-time customer journeys. This range suits coordinated, multichannel programs; teams that only need basic email campaigns may find the platform broader than necessary.

Lead capture forms, lead scoring, and native CRM integrations support the handoff from marketing to sales. Segmentation covers marketing contacts, Shopify and WooCommerce audiences, anonymous visitors, and Facebook and Instagram audiences. AI features include campaign assistance, scoring, segmentation, chatbots, and insights. Chatbot sessions last up to 24 hours, a practical constraint for teams designing conversations that may continue longer.

Reporting includes e-commerce dashboards, email and SMS performance, revenue attribution, A/B testing, heatmaps, and session replay. These tools give teams several ways to evaluate campaign and site activity. Integrations include API access, Shopify, Segment, Zapier, WooCommerce, and more than 1,000 apps in the Freshworks Marketplace. Freshworks also offers dedicated onboarding to migrate contacts, campaigns, and historical data from another marketing-automation or CRM platform, which can reduce migration work.

Freshworks describes security measures including 24-hour data-center surveillance and current security patches. Its Trust Center lists SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 3, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27701:2019, and PCI DSS v4.0.0 compliance materials.

Pricing

Freshmarketer uses a freemium model, with paid plans starting at $15 per month, billed annually. The 21-day trial needs attention: accounts are suspended if no plan is selected before it expires.

Free — free: For teams getting started, with 100 marketing contacts and 500 monthly email sends. Those caps make it suitable for a small initial program, but can constrain growth or frequent email activity.
Enterprise — 15.00 USD per month, billed annually: For emerging and established businesses. It includes everything in Free plus 500 marketing contacts, an AI-powered campaign assistant, transactional emails, Facebook and Instagram custom audiences, advanced segmentation, and advanced webhooks. The larger contact allowance and added controls suit teams moving beyond a basic setup, though 500 contacts remains a defined ceiling.

Add-ons can raise costs: marketing contacts start at $100 per 5,000 contacts per month; conversion-rate optimization starts at $219 per 10,000 MUV per month; a dedicated IP is $199 per account per month; Freddy AI Agent is $49 per 100 sessions; and Messaging Agent is $79 per agent per month. Teams should account for these charges when estimating a larger deployment.

Freshmarketer supports web and API access.

Who it's for

Freshmarketer fits sales and marketing teams that need to coordinate lead capture, scoring, segmentation, and automated engagement across channels, especially when they already use Freshworks tools or need native CRM connections. Small teams can start free, while businesses scaling contact volumes should weigh the paid allowance and add-on costs. It is less compelling for organizations seeking only a simple email sender or unwilling to commit to a plan after the trial.

Pros and cons

Pro: Broad channel and automation coverage lets teams coordinate email, messaging, social, and customer journeys in one platform.
Pro: Native CRM integration, lead tools, and detailed campaign and e-commerce reporting support the path from engagement to sales follow-up.
Pro: Free dedicated migration onboarding can help teams move contacts, campaigns, and historical data.
Con: The Free plan's 100 contacts and 500 monthly email sends leave little room for a growing audience.
Con: Trial accounts are suspended if no plan is selected by expiry, so teams must decide within 21 days.
Con: Several capabilities have separately priced add-ons, which can increase costs beyond the starting plan.

Verdict

Choose Freshmarketer if your sales and marketing teams need multichannel automation, customer journeys, and lead tools tied to CRM activity. Its breadth and migration onboarding are compelling, but the free quotas, annual paid billing, and trial suspension make it a poor fit for teams that need a larger audience without a clear budget or plan decision.
