Overview

TaxZerone is an IRS-authorized e-file service for businesses, individuals, and nonprofits submitting supported federal tax forms. It is a strong fit for repeat filers and tax professionals who need validation, bulk uploads, or shared review workflows. Its form-by-form pricing and lack of state filing make it less compelling for people seeking all-in-one tax preparation across jurisdictions.

Key features

Coverage includes business, employment, exempt-organization, information-return, excise, extension, and essential forms. The filing flow centers on selecting a form, entering information, and sending it to the IRS, rather than broader tax planning. Checks for errors and missing information against IRS rules can catch issues before submission; if the IRS rejects a form, users can correct and retransmit it without an additional charge.

Bulk uploads and separate permissions for creating, reviewing, and approving returns suit organizations with recurring filings and approval steps. Tax professionals can manage multiple businesses, track client filing status, and access documents from one dashboard without switching logins. These capabilities are meaningful for a team or practice, but offer less to someone filing a single return.

TaxZerone says it encrypts personal and financial information and displays a SOC 2 compliance badge. Its REST API uses OAuth 2.0 tokens and JSON, and includes a sandbox for testing integrations. That makes it a practical option to evaluate for custom filing workflows, though the available API details do not establish which operations an integration can perform.

Information-return recipients can receive forms electronically through ZeroneVault for $0.50 per form or by postal mail for $1.75 per form. Those per-recipient charges can affect the total cost when sending many forms. The Form 2290 app for Android, iPhone, and iPad supports filing, Schedule 1 access, filing history, and status updates.

Pricing

TaxZerone uses a freemium, pay-per-form model, with free filing for select forms and paid filing from $0.59. The free Form W-9 plan covers online W-9 requests. Free options also include Form 94x PIN requests, Form 2290 VIN corrections, and some extension filings when qualifying returns are prepaid.

Information-return federal filing costs $2.49 per form for 1 to 25 forms, $1.99 for 26 to 50, $1.59 for 51 to 100, $1.29 for 101 to 250, $1.09 for 251 to 500, $0.79 for 501 to 1000, and $0.59 for 1000+. Covered forms include W-2, W-2G, 1095, 1097, 1098, 1099, 3921, 3922, and 5498. Volume pricing benefits high-volume filers, while the per-form structure means smaller batches cost more per filing.

Other published prices include Form 941 at $6.99 per return and a single-vehicle Form 2290 at $19.99 per return; other vehicle-count tiers are priced separately. Form 1120-S costs $179.99 per return for Tax Year 2025 and 2024, with required supporting forms and schedules included. Flexi-Fleet costs $179.99 per year per business for unlimited Form 2290 filings for that business in a tax year. Check the specific form and applicable tier before budgeting, since these offerings are not a single general-purpose subscription.

Platforms

TaxZerone is available on the web, Android, iOS, and through an API. The mobile app is specifically for Form 2290, so mobile support should not be taken to mean that every form can be filed in the app. Its jurisdiction coverage is federal only, with no state filing.

Who it's for

TaxZerone makes the most sense for businesses and nonprofits filing supported federal forms, tax professionals coordinating several client businesses, and organizations that need bulk handling or approval roles. It can also suit an individual with a specific supported form, particularly where a free filing option applies. Filers who need state returns or broad tax-planning capabilities should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros: Form-specific choices include free options and volume-based information-return prices, giving filers a way to match costs to their filing type and quantity.
Pros: IRS-rule checks and free correction and retransmission after rejection help reduce the risk and extra cost of fixing a rejected form.
Pros: Bulk uploads, permission roles, and a multi-business dashboard support organized team and professional workflows.
Cons: Federal-only coverage leaves state filing needs unmet.
Cons: Many filings have separate per-form or per-return charges, so the total can rise with filing volume; recipient delivery also costs $0.50 per electronic form or $1.75 by mail.
Cons: The Form 2290 mobile app is specific to that form, limiting its usefulness for users filing other forms on mobile.

Verdict

Choose TaxZerone if you need supported federal forms and value rule-based validation, bulk filing, or a shared professional workflow; its free options and volume pricing can also suit specific filing needs. Look elsewhere if state returns are essential or you want a broader tax-preparation service rather than form-specific e-filing.
