Overview

Volunteers can log hours online, in the mobile app, or through onsite check-in. Organizations can generate reports instantly, filter or group them, and export them to Excel. This gives coordinators ways to gather and summarize service records without depending on a single logging method.

Event calendars support RSVPs, customized notifications, and verification used to log hours. Milestones show volunteers and organizers progress toward configured requirements or goals. That combination suits programs where attendance and hour targets go together, but may be more than a group needs if it only wants a basic time record.

Key features

Volunteer and administrator tools

The mobile app lets volunteers log hours, view timesheets, and sign up for events; administrators can add volunteers, view hours, and approve or decline submissions. The app and self-service options can reduce routine coordinator work, but hour approval is reserved for Premium and above.

School integrations and safeguards

School integrations support most student information, learning management, and identity management systems, with named options including Blackbaud, FACTS SIS, PowerSchool, Canvas, Google Classroom, Clever, and ClassLink. They are intended for student service-hour programs, and organizations interested in them are asked to contact the team.

The maker says its US data centers are SOC 2 and GDPR compliant, data in transit uses HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or higher, and the site is backed up daily. It also says customer data collected through the product is not used, shared, or sold. Support is primarily by email, with meetings when needed; larger organizations can purchase onboarding and training for an additional fee.

Pricing

The freemium offering includes a free plan and a 30-day trial. The trial requires no credit card or payment method; accounts not upgraded afterward move to the free plan. Only active volunteers count toward subscription pricing, so archived inactive volunteers do not add to the bill.

Free: Free for grassroots organizations with less than 25 volunteers, with basic tracking. The low ceiling makes it an entry point for small groups rather than a fit for growing programs.
Basic: 13.25 USD per month, billed monthly, with annual billing saving 20%; price shown for 100 users. It includes time tracking, event calendar, reports, mobile app, milestones, and email messages. It covers core coordination, but not hour approval.
Premium: 25.00 USD per month, billed monthly, with annual billing saving 20%; price shown for 100 users. It adds hour approval, multiple administrators, conditional milestones, custom profile fields, and a digital event sign-in sheet. This is the practical step up for teams needing review workflows or several admins.
Advanced: 37.00 USD per month, billed monthly, with annual billing saving 20%; price shown for 100 users. It adds text messages, advanced verifications, file upload fields, conditional hour log fields, a check-in kiosk, and offline mode. The added controls fit programs with more demanding verification or onsite workflows.

Each paid price is tied to 100 users, so larger organizations should assess their active-volunteer count before choosing a tier. Larger organizations can also buy onboarding and training separately.

Platforms

Track It Forward runs on the web and has Android and iOS apps. The mobile options support volunteer logging and signups as well as administrator tasks such as adding volunteers and handling submissions.

Who it's for

Track It Forward is a good fit for grassroots organizations and school service-hour programs that want volunteers to log time themselves while coordinators manage events, reports, and goals. The free tier is specifically aimed at groups with less than 25 volunteers. Organizations that need approval, multiple administrators, or advanced verification should compare the paid tiers against their actual workflow and active-volunteer count.

Pros and cons

Pros: Multiple hour-entry routes accommodate online, mobile, and onsite volunteering.
Pros: Filterable, groupable Excel reports and progress milestones link records to program requirements.
Pros: A no-card 30-day trial rolls into a free plan if the account is not upgraded.
Cons: Free access is limited to grassroots organizations with less than 25 volunteers.
Cons: Hour approval is not included in Basic, so teams needing staff review must pay for Premium or Advanced.
Cons: School integrations require contacting the team, adding a step for programs that want to connect student systems.

POINT is worth considering if unlimited volunteers and admins, signups, scheduling, messaging, and time tracking on a free plan matter more than Track It Forward's published hour-logging tiers. VolunteerMark offers a free forever plan for up to 50 volunteers and a single administrator, making it an option for groups that can work within that cap. Vome has a forever-free Recruit plan with unlimited volunteers and admin seats, suited to organizations prioritizing those capacity limits.

Mobilize has a limited starter account for five team members and the next five events or online actions, with up to 50 signups or 500 petition signatures. GivePulse may suit organizations comparing a basic free plan with one admin, no subgroups, and five custom fields. vHours is a paid alternative with a 49.00 USD per month Starter plan for up to 250 active volunteers and unlimited admins. Volunteer Scheduler Pro is another paid option, with flexible scheduling and mobile and web access. Volgistics offers a 9.00 USD per month base service for 50 volunteer records, with optional modules and additional records or operators changing the total.

Verdict

Choose Track It Forward if your organization needs volunteer hour logging tied to events, reports, and progress goals, especially when multiple entry methods matter. Its free plan gives very small grassroots groups a starting point, and the 30-day trial is no-card. Look elsewhere if approval is essential but your budget stops at Basic, or if your volunteer count exceeds the free plan's narrow cap.
