Quick answer: On a computer, play the video, right-click inside the player, and choose Loop. In the YouTube app on Android, iPhone, or iPad, open Settings → Additional settings → Loop video. On a smart TV or game console, open the playback controls, choose Repeat, and select Repeat • Currently playing. These controls repeat the complete video; playlist and partial-video looping work differently.
Which YouTube looping method should you use?
YouTube documents separate controls for the website, mobile app, playlist view, and TV or console apps. Use the row that matches where the video is playing; a control visible on one platform may not appear in the same place after casting or opening an embedded player.
| Where you are watching | Control path | What repeats | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Computer browser | Right-click the player → Loop | The current video | Use the normal YouTube watch page, not a third-party embed. |
| Android app | Settings → Additional settings → Loop video | The current video | Labels and placement can vary with app layout or version. |
| iPhone or iPad app | Settings → Additional settings → Loop video | The current video | YouTube groups iOS with its mobile instructions. |
| Playlist on computer | Open the playlist panel → Loop | The whole playlist | Select the control again until a 1 appears to repeat only the current item. |
| Playlist in the mobile app | Play the playlist → playlist controls → Loop | The whole playlist | Use the playlist control rather than the single-video setting. |
| Smart TV or game console | Press down on the remote or controller → Repeat → Repeat • Currently playing | The current video | For all items, choose Repeat • Playlist. |
The current official instructions are in YouTube Help. YouTube changes layouts and tests interface variations, so the wording can look slightly different while the function remains the same.

- Open the video’s regular YouTube watch page.
- Start playback. The video can be paused after it begins, but the player must be active.
- Right-click directly inside the video picture or controls.
- Choose Loop from the player menu.
When the playhead reaches the end, YouTube starts the same video again. To stop it, right-click in the player and select Loop a second time. The desktop-specific procedure is documented at YouTube Help for computers.
What if the browser menu appears instead?
A right-click near the page margin can open the browser’s ordinary context menu. Right-click farther inside the video area, or try a second right-click after the player has received focus. Exiting full-screen mode can also make the YouTube menu easier to reach.
How do you loop a YouTube video on Android?
Use the player’s own settings menu, not the general account settings for the YouTube app.

- Tap Loop video.
The video should restart when it reaches the end. Return to Settings → Additional settings → Loop video and tap the option again to turn it off. The official Android path is listed at YouTube Help.
Why might the Android labels look different?
YouTube can move controls for different screen sizes, app releases, account experiments, or playback contexts. Tap the video once to reveal controls, then look for the player’s gear icon or Settings label. If you are watching a playlist, the playlist’s separate Loop control may be the relevant option.
How do you loop a YouTube video on an iPhone or iPad?
YouTube groups iPhone and iPad with its current mobile procedure:
- Play the video in the YouTube app.
- Tap Settings in the player.
- Choose Additional settings.
- Tap Loop video.
Use the same path to disable the setting. If the option is not visible, tap the video to expose the controls and confirm that you are on the video’s normal watch screen rather than a playlist-only panel or a cast-control screen.
How do you repeat an entire YouTube playlist?
Playlist looping repeats multiple videos in sequence. It is different from turning on loop for one standalone video.

On a computer
- Open a video that belongs to the playlist.
- Expand the playlist panel beside the player if it is collapsed.
- Click the playlist’s Loop control.
After the final item, YouTube returns to the beginning of the playlist and continues playback.
In the mobile app
- Start playing the playlist.
- Find the playlist control box below the video.
- Tap Loop.
Playlist controls can be hidden until the playlist is actively playing. If you instead open one video’s player settings, you may see the single-video loop command rather than the playlist control.
How do you repeat only one video inside a playlist?
Activate the playlist loop control again until a 1 appears in the center of the loop icon. That indicator means the current item repeats instead of the entire queue.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The exact icon state can vary by device. If the control cycles between playlist repeat and current-item repeat, stop when the 1 indicator is shown. Opening the video on its standalone watch page is another way to avoid accidentally carrying playlist behavior into playback.
How do you loop a YouTube video on a smart TV or game console?
The TV and console apps use Repeat, not the desktop right-click menu.
- Start playing the video in the YouTube app on the TV or console.
- Press down on the remote or game controller to open playback controls.
- Select Repeat.
- Continue selecting it until the control reads Repeat • Currently playing.
For a whole playlist, choose Repeat • Playlist. The available labels depend on the native YouTube app and its current interface. Casting from a phone can show a different control set, because the phone is acting as a cast controller rather than running the TV app’s full player menu.
What should you do if the Loop option is missing?
An absent control does not necessarily mean YouTube removed looping. Platform, layout, playlist context, app version, restrictions, or an extension can hide the command. Work through the branch for the device you are using.

- Confirm that the page is the normal YouTube watch page, not a video embedded on another site.
- Right-click directly over the video image, and try another point inside the player if the browser menu appears.
- Leave full-screen mode before opening the menu.
- Reload the page and allow the video to begin playing again.
- Temporarily disable browser extensions that change YouTube controls or context menus.
- Try a private window or another supported browser to identify an extension or cached-page conflict.
- Check whether the video is in a restricted, embedded, or managed environment where player commands are limited.
Mobile troubleshooting
- Tap the video to reveal controls, then open the player’s Settings, not the app’s account menu.
- Look inside Additional settings for Loop video.
- Use the playlist’s own Loop control when a playlist is playing.
- Update the YouTube app through the device’s official app store.
- Force-close and reopen the app, then load the video from a standard watch screen.
- If the app layout still does not expose the option, try YouTube in a mobile browser.
TV, console, and casting troubleshooting
- Open the native YouTube app’s playback controls by pressing down on the remote or controller.
- Look for Repeat rather than Loop.
- If you are casting, check the controls on both the phone and the receiving device; they may not match.
- Reconnect a dropped casting session and verify that the same video is still selected.
Why can a video stop looping unexpectedly?
Loop mode only tells the player what to do after a successful ending. It cannot keep playback alive when another condition interrupts the stream.

- A lost or unstable network connection can stop the next replay from loading.
- Battery-saving settings or background restrictions can suspend a mobile app.
- The app, TV, console, or casting session can close or disconnect.
- The video may be removed, made private, age-restricted, or unavailable in your region.
- Switching to another video or playlist changes the playback context.
- YouTube can change the player interface or reset playback state after an update.
First distinguish the setting from the interruption: check whether the loop indicator is still enabled, then test the network and reopen the same watch page. If the content itself is restricted or unavailable, no loop setting can resume it.
Can you loop only part of a YouTube video?
The standard YouTube control repeats the complete video. It does not provide a normal viewer setting for custom start and end points.
A browser extension or web tool may offer segment looping, but such services vary in safety, privacy, compatibility, and terms. Do not install one merely to repeat an ordinary video. For a website, presentation, kiosk, or custom player that you control, the official IFrame Player API provides a documented embed method instead.

How do developers loop one embedded video?
For an embedded player, set loop=1 and set the playlist parameter to the same video ID. The required pattern is:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/VIDEO_ID?loop=1&playlist=VIDEO_ID
The repeated video ID in playlist is required for single-video looping in the documented IFrame method. This applies to an embedded player, not to the ordinary YouTube watch-page URL. See the current developer documentation, updated April 28, 2026, at YouTube IFrame Player API player parameters.
What is the difference between loop and autoplay?
Loop replays the current video or playlist. Autoplay starts another video selected by YouTube after the current one ends. Turning Autoplay off does not turn Loop on, and turning Loop on does not ask YouTube to choose a different recommendation.
For a single song, exercise demonstration, ambient video, or tutorial, choose current-video looping. For a sequence of lessons or tracks, choose playlist looping. If you want recommendations to continue, use Autoplay instead of either repeat mode.
Does looping use more internet data?
Usually, yes: every replay is another streaming session for the video. The amount depends on the video’s length, resolution, compression, buffering, device, network conditions, and any playback interruptions. YouTube does not promise that a repeated video is downloaded once and then replayed locally, so extended looping on mobile data can consume substantially more bandwidth than one viewing.

On a metered connection, lower the playback quality when appropriate or use a Wi‑Fi network. Those choices affect data use but do not change the loop command itself.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does looping remove or bypass advertisements?
No. Looping is a playback instruction, not an ad-blocking feature. Ads and other interruptions are controlled by YouTube and can vary by viewer, video, account, subscription status, region, device, and current policy. A replay may therefore have different ad behavior from the previous play, and enabling Loop does not guarantee an uninterrupted cycle.
Can you loop a video without signing in?
On the desktop website, signing in is not part of YouTube’s documented steps: the Loop command is opened directly from the player. That does not establish universal no-sign-in behavior for every TV, app, age-restricted video, regional restriction, or managed device. If a device requires authentication to play the video, looping cannot bypass that requirement.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsCan a YouTube video loop offline?
The built-in Loop command controls streaming playback; it is not an offline-download feature. Whether a video can be played without a connection depends on YouTube’s separate download and account rules for the device and region. If playback cannot start again because the device is offline or the downloaded item is unavailable, Loop has no stream to repeat.
How should you choose the right looping method?
Match the control to what you want repeated, then use the native YouTube player whenever it is available.
- One video on a laptop or desktop: use the player’s right-click Loop command.
- One video on a phone or tablet: use Settings → Additional settings → Loop video in the app.
- A sequence of videos: start the playlist and select its Loop control.
- One item within that sequence: cycle the playlist loop control until the 1 indicator appears, or open the video independently.
- A TV or console: use Repeat • Currently playing or Repeat • Playlist.
- A custom start and end point: the native viewer control is insufficient; use a carefully evaluated third-party solution or an embedded implementation only when you have the necessary rights and technical control.
- A website, kiosk, or presentation: use the IFrame Player API parameters rather than trying to alter a normal watch-page URL.
When you finish, explicitly turn off the same control that enabled repetition. This prevents a later playlist or video from inheriting an unexpected repeat mode.
Frequently asked questions
Will Loop keep running forever?
It keeps requesting another play while the video remains available and playback is uninterrupted. A network loss, app suspension, device shutdown, casting disconnect, or content restriction can stop the cycle even when the loop indicator was enabled.

Why does my playlist repeat instead of one video?
You may have activated the playlist-level control. Select that control again until the loop icon shows 1, which indicates current-item repeat, or open the video from its standalone watch page.

Does turning off Autoplay stop a loop?
No. Autoplay chooses a subsequent recommendation, while Loop replays the current item. They are separate settings and can be changed independently.
What happens if I start another video after enabling Loop?
The repeat setting belongs to the current playback context and may not carry over in the same way to a new video or playlist. Disable Loop explicitly before switching if you do not want an unexpected repeat mode.
Can I use the desktop right-click method inside an embedded video?
Not reliably. An embedded player can expose a different menu or restrict controls. For a player you administer, use the documented IFrame parameters instead of assuming the watch-page command is available.
