To make a song with AI, move through eight stages: define the brief, draft lyrics, generate versions, edit the arrangement, export parts, refine the mix, master the track, then verify rights before publishing. The workflow below uses tools suited to each stage and keeps your editable files organized.
1. Define The Song Brief
Write The Core Idea In SongIntent
Open SongIntent and start one project. Enter the subject, point of view, emotional direction, intended structure and any lines you already want to keep. SongIntent can generate complete songs from ideas, lyrics, flows, beats or melodies, and it supports structure and line-level revisions. Its Free plan includes one active project, one render per month and five AI assists per month, so save your brief before spending a render.
Set A Practical Target
- Choose a working title and one-sentence premise.
- List the sections you need, such as verse, chorus and bridge.
- Decide whether the first version should be vocal, instrumental or both.
- Write a short reference description using mood, instrumentation and vocal direction rather than naming a living artist.
2. Draft And Tighten Lyrics
Build A Structured Draft With LyricDraft
Use LyricDraft to generate verse, chorus and bridge text from your concept. Paste any lines that must remain and ask it to complete around those lines. It also creates prompts for Suno and Udio and keeps version history. The Free plan is a one-time 18-credit pack; paid access starts at $5 per month with the Songwriter plan.
Check Rhyme And Meter In RHYMEBOOK
Paste the draft into RHYMEBOOK when you need alternate perfect, near or multisyllabic rhymes. Its rhyme tools support 24 languages, and its AI can work from genre, mood, theme and song structure. The Free plan lists 25 AI suggestions, three Ghostwriter chats, one demo and five transcription minutes per month.

Keep A Simple File Layout
- 01_source: original generations and prompts.
- 02_lyrics: dated lyric revisions.
- 03_stems: vocals, drums, bass and instruments.
- 04_mix: your stereo mix and alternate versions.
- 05_master: final delivery files.
6. Improve The Mix Before Mastering
Balance Stem Elements
Listen to the vocal, bass, drums and instruments separately. Fix masking by lowering competing parts, remove clicks at edits and automate vocal level changes between sections. Export one stereo mix with headroom for mastering and keep the stems unchanged for revisions.

8. Check Rights And Publish
Confirm Each Platform’s Terms
Keep proof of your own lyrics, recordings and edits. Suno’s Free plan does not include commercial rights. Eleven Music’s free plan is personal use, and commercial rights vary by plan; its listed commercial rights exclude film, TV and studio games. Udio currently disables downloads during its transition period. Read the current terms for the exact plan that generated your audio, and obtain consent before cloning or using a recognizable person’s voice.
Understand What Copyright Covers
The U.S. Copyright Office says material generated entirely by AI is not copyrightable, prompts alone do not make someone the author, and protection can apply to the human-authored parts of a mixed work. If a submission contains more than a minimal amount of AI-generated material, applicants must disclose it and describe their human contribution. See the U.S. Copyright Office AI report for the current guidance.
