Is Cyberpunk 2077 the Sci-Fi Game we’ve been waiting for?

The gaming industry has been booming for the last few years with titles like Fortnite, Far Cry, The Division, Doom, Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII and many more. If in the past gaming was just a hobby, now it’s become so popular that it morphed into e-Sports. So the question is what else can we expect from the gaming industry?

Gaming is one of the prime hobbies of the 21st century. Nowadays, everyone owns a PC or a tablet or a smartphone, and games are a few clicks away so you can see why gaming is a favorite pastime of virtually anyone. Different people get their kicks from different things, it doesn’t necessarily have to be gaming. Some still like regular sports, extreme sports, watching YouTube videos or browsing random websites like for example Netbet Nigeria or 9gag or whatever comes to your mind.

The one gaming genre that always keeps things fresh is science-fiction. The movies, TV series and games from this genre never cease to amaze us as to how far technology can go and how close we are to achieving exactly that. One of the most anticipated titles coming out on the 16th of April 2020 is Cyberpunk 2077. It is developed by CD Projekt Red-the company that is already known for the amazing Witcher franchise which helped put the company on the map.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an adaptation from Cyberpunk 2020, a tabletop game set in Night City in the Free State of California. Players assume the role of V, a mercenary striving in the megacity. Since it’s an RPG game V can either be male or female and customized to your liking. Although it’s an RPG it’s played form a first-person perspective. As you go from quest to quest V will level up and become a part of one of the three character classes: Netrunner, Techie or Solo. Netrunners are Night City’s super hackers. They have a special ability called “Interface” which allows them to hack systems and cyborgs alike. Techies are the city fixers and builders. They repair and improve the technology. Their special skill is “Jury Rig” which allows them to have a proficient level at engineering. Finally, the Solos are the warrior class. They’re lone mercenaries that work as hitmen, bodyguards or whatever they’re paid for. Solos are likely to have cybernetic prosthetics, as do most inhabitants of Night City, which further improve their skills. Their ability “Combat Sense” allows them to sense traps and dangerous situations.

Besides the classes, there is an interactive environment in Cyberpunk 2077. You can talk to pretty much anyone, form shop vendors to homeless people. The game has its weather system so you can see how a sunny or rainy affects the NPCs. Last but not least, the game features Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand. You’ll have to play the game to find out what role this mysterious character has in it since the trailer didn’t reveal much.
