What Attributor is
Attributor is a free, open-source desktop application for preparing photo metadata before submission to stock agencies. It edits titles, descriptions, keywords, categories, release filenames and attribution flags for JPEG, PNG and WebP images, embedding metadata without re-encoding files. A local Ollama vision model can generate metadata and content flags for single images or batches without cloud upload. Batch editing applies selected fields while unchecked fields keep their existing values; auto-save is disabled in batch mode to avoid overwrites. Keyword autocomplete uses fuzzy search across more than 1,000 stock-photography terms, with reordering and copy-paste tools. CSV export includes presets for Shutterstock, iStock, Adobe Stock and Envato, plus configurable presets. Working data stays in a local database until saved to image files. Attributor runs on Linux, macOS and Windows under AGPL-3.0. TIFF and RAW files are unsupported, and icon view shows only files at the opened folder’s root.
