The record

Purpose: Binderus is a local-first note-taking app with WYSIWYG editing of plain Markdown files.
Editor: The live Markdown editor includes slash commands, tables, code blocks, LaTeX math, and Mermaid diagrams.
Organization: The app lists multi-vault support, instant search, plugins, themes, wikilinks, and backlinks.
Storage: Notes can be stored as ordinary Markdown files or in an optional encrypted local database.
Encryption: The encrypted database uses AES-256 with a passphrase and derives its key with Argon2id; Binderus says a lost passphrase cannot be recovered.
Plaintext caveat: Images and attachments remain unencrypted on disk unless attachment encryption is enabled.
Integrations: The docs describe syncing vaults through iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, Syncthing, or Git; Binderus has no proprietary sync server.
Sync limitation: Vaults must be located under the operating system’s Documents directory for Binderus to read and write them.
Plugin security: Plugins run with a curated API and have no raw filesystem access or unrestricted network fetch by default; declared capabilities are shown before installation.
AI integrations: Its built-in AI Chat plugin supports OpenAI-compatible services including Ollama, LM Studio, OpenAI, DeepInfra, Groq, Together, and OpenRouter.
Portability: Markdown notes can be opened in other text editors, and Binderus can export to PDF, DOCX, or HTML.
Support: The docs direct users to the FAQ, Discord, or GitHub issues for help.
Intended audience: The maker describes Binderus as a lightweight note app for people who want simple organization, local files, and no proprietary format lock-in.
