The record

Purpose: Checkr Tenant provides tenant screening for landlords, including criminal, credit, and eviction checks.
Screening features: The site lists criminal history, credit reports, eviction records, identity verification, and income verification as screening options.
Criminal search: The criminal history search includes national database, county court, sex offender registry, and global watchlist searches.
Credit check: Tenant credit checks are soft inquiries that the site says do not affect the applicant’s credit score.
Income verification: Income verification uses the applicant’s bank account to show average monthly income, income sources, and rent-to-income ratio.
Applicant consent: Applicants receive a unique link by SMS and/or email to complete screening steps, and the site says it reminds them daily until they finish.
Getting started: The homepage says landlords can start with an applicant’s name, date of birth, and email, without business certification or a subscription.
Account verification: Landlords and property managers must verify their identity; most reviews take a few minutes and some may take up to 24 hours.
Limits: International background checks are currently unavailable, and Social Security numbers are not required for screening.
Payment: Checkr Tenant accepts major credit cards and Apple Pay when available, and checkout can let the applicant pay.
Refunds: The FAQ says full refunds are generally available when an applicant cancels because they cannot recognize a property, or when a screening makes no progress for two weeks and the user cancels it.
Security: The site describes applicant screening as secure and encrypted and says bank data access is read-only with bank-level encryption.
Compliance: The site states Checkr Tenant operates in compliance with the FCRA and displays PBSA accreditation and a BBB A+ rating.
Support: The FAQ directs customers to contact sales through the support chat about price breaks for large customers.
