Cinc Auditor

Purpose: Cinc Auditor is a free distribution of Chef InSpec for compliance and audit workflows.
Profile compatibility: Cinc Auditor profiles are 100% compatible with their upstream counterparts.
InSpec compatibility: The cinc-auditor tools are fully compatible with inspec, and an inspec wrapper redirects to cinc-auditor so existing automation keeps working.
Install options: Auditor can be installed using scripts, Bundler, RubyGems, or plain packages.
Operating systems: The install instructions provide Linux/macOS and Windows options.
Container image: Cinc publishes a cincproject/auditor Docker Hub image described as a drop-in replacement for chef/inspec and suited to CI pipelines.
CI use: The Auditor container image can run InSpec-compatible profiles in CI or against containers, and is described as suitable for GitLab CI and GitHub Actions.
Included with Workstation: Cinc Auditor is included in Cinc Workstation.
License: Cinc says its binaries are licensed under Apache 2.0 and have no further EULAs or licensing.
Support and warranties: Cinc projects are distributed without formal warranties or support; the project recommends contacting Progress if warranties or support are needed.
Security reporting: Security vulnerabilities in Cinc binaries, build pipelines, or supporting libraries can be reported privately by email to [email protected].
Package repository limitation: Cinc says it does not currently provide repositories for standard package managers such as yum or apt.
Who makes it: Cinc describes itself as a small, open community making a free distribution of Chef alongside the commercial Chef product line.
