The record

Purpose: Evidentum is an AI-powered systematic literature review workbench for searching, screening, and appraising research.
Search strategy: Its PICO assistant drafts editable concept blocks and search terms, and reports live result counts from PubMed.
Database search: The workbench searches PubMed, Europe PMC, Cochrane, Semantic Scholar, OpenAlex, Scopus, and ClinicalTrials.gov, and deduplicates results.
Other databases: Evidentum can generate strategies for Ovid Embase, Cochrane CENTRAL, and Web of Science, but users must run those searches themselves and import the records.
Appraisal tools: The app offers reporting checklists including CONSORT, PRISMA, STROBE, CARE, and AGREE II, along with risk-of-bias tools including RoB 2 and ROBINS-I V2.
PDF scanner: The standalone PDF Scanner reads uploaded papers locally in the browser and runs selected quality and risk-of-bias checklists.
AI providers: AI appraisal supports API keys from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, and xAI Grok, and usage is billed to the user's key.
Privacy: The app says it has no Evidentum server and stores projects, screening decisions, notes, and API keys in the local browser.
Data sharing: When users initiate AI appraisal, the paper title, abstract, fetched full text, and prompt are sent to the AI provider they selected.
Human review: Evidentum describes AI output as an advisory draft that a human reviewer must verify, not as a final eligibility or risk-of-bias judgement.
Institutional access: LibKey settings provide one-click full-text access through a user's institution.
Notable limit: Scopus requires an Elsevier API key, and off-campus use also requires an InstToken.
Backup: Users can export and restore project and screening data; API keys are excluded from backups by default.
Makers: The software citation on the site names Angus McNally and Andrew Duckworth as authors.
