The record

Purpose: GatePass is a school gate attendance and parent notification system that also supports registers, emergency roll-call, trips, boarding, visitor management, and fees.
Gate scan: A student scan confirms entry, notifies the parent, and writes an attendance record in under two seconds.
Offline operation: Scanning continues when the network drops, retaining scan times and queuing parent notifications until reconnection.
Visitor management: Visitors can pre-book, check in by QR at the gate, notify their host, and receive a digital visit pass.
Access: The same app serves parents, staff, gatekeepers, and visitors, while admins and headteachers manage the school through a web dashboard.
Mobile availability: The download page lists iOS and Android, but says both the App Store and Google Play versions are coming soon.
Included features: All plans include unlimited gate scans, QR ID cards, reports, visitor management, audit trail, API access, and priority support, with no feature paywalls.
Integrations: The pricing page includes API access for integrations but does not name specific integrations.
Security: The privacy policy says data is transmitted over TLS, databases are encrypted at rest, production access is restricted, and sensitive actions are logged in a tamper-evident audit trail.
Data use: GatePass says it does not sell data or use it for advertising.
Data retention: The policy says attendance records are intended to be kept for an active subscription plus three years, while automated enforcement of retention periods is still being built.
Support: The contact page says the team typically responds within one business day and lists a dedicated technical support email.
Setup: GatePass says schools can start with a phone they already own and printed QR cards, with no server or special hardware required.
Headquarters: Kampala, Uganda
