The record

Purpose: The app periodically changes a Windows or Mac desktop background to photos or photo montages.
Image sources: Supported sources include local photos and services such as Flickr, SmugMug, Unsplash, Pixabay, Dropbox, OneDrive, Vladstudio, Immich, and Media RSS feeds, with availability varying by platform.
Windows integrations: The Windows version also lists Pexels, Last.fm, and Wallhaven as photo sources.
Montages: The app can display single photos or generate montages and collages for the desktop.
Monitor support: The Mac version supports multiple monitors and can show the same or different pictures on each monitor, or use only one monitor.
Timing and effects: The Mac version supports switching intervals from every 10 seconds to 7 days and effects including grayscale, sepia, and desaturation.
Windows requirements: The Windows version works on Windows 10 and above and uses Microsoft .NET 4.8, which its setup wizard can install if needed.
Windows extras: The Windows version includes a system tray interface, full documentation, a cached photo browser, and an uninstaller that the maker says removes every trace of the app.
Privacy: The maker says JBS stores settings and authentication tokens locally, contacts photo services directly, and caches photo results locally for no longer than two days.
Support: The maker offers a support request form and directs Windows users to check the FAQ first; replies may take a while because the maker receives many emails.
Languages: The Windows version lists English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Ukrainian, Swedish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Russian, Finnish, Hungarian, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
Maker: The maker identifies himself as John Conners, a software developer who lives in Yorkshire and originally lived in Fife, Scotland.
Origin: John Conners says he wrote the original PC background changer in 2004 and released it for free.
