Klexikon

Klexikon is a free German-language online encyclopedia for children, with its audience described as roughly 6 to 14 years old. Its editorial approach favors clear wording, short sentences, and content suited to young readers. The project says it has more than 3,500 articles, plus over 1,500 in MiniKlexikon, where language is especially simple for beginning readers, German learners, and children with additional learning needs. Articles use child-appropriate images from Wikimedia Commons, and the editorial guidance calls for at least one image in each article. Some entries also include Tagesschau explanatory videos. The site is available on the web without a login; the project describes it as ad-free and says it does not collect personal data. Its text is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, requiring attribution and reuse under the same license. Children can submit article requests, questions, or error reports. Klexikon also offers school workshops with research tips and collaborative article improvement. Adult contributors apply by email and normally receive an account after an introductory course; new contributors must be at least 18.
