The record

Purpose: MWSE adds functions to Morrowind scripts beyond those provided by the game's Construction Set.
Modding use: The additional functions let modders add features and behavior that would otherwise be impractical or impossible.
Lua scripting: Starting in MWSE 2.1, modders can create event-driven Morrowind modifications using Lua.
Events: MWSE provides event hooks ranging from player level-ups to object collisions and world activations.
APIs: MWSE exposes its APIs through Lua 5.1 with extensions from Lua 5.2 and Lua 5.3.
Unsandboxed: MWSE does not sandbox mods, allowing packaged Lua modules and native code.
Patches: Included patches raise the mod limit from 256 to 1024.
Diagnostics: MWSE creates crash dump files and logging information to help diagnose mod issues.
Installation: Installation requires the x86 Visual Studio 2022 Redistributable, Morrowind Code Patch, and Morrowind Graphic Extender XE.
Updater: MWSE-Update.exe downloads the latest automated build from GitHub, and MGE XE bundles the updater.
Support: The project directs users seeking scripting advice or discussion to the Morrowind Modding Community Discord.
Open source: MWSE welcomes contributions including ideas, bug fixes, documentation, and new features.
License: MWSE is free software licensed under the GNU General Public License and comes with absolutely no warranty.
Audience: The repository identifies mod authors as the audience for learning MWSE and receiving assistance.
