Nomi AI

Overview

Nomi AI is a companion service for adults who want ongoing conversation, roleplay or mentorship with a character they can shape over time. Its strongest appeal is continuity across chats; it is a weaker fit for anyone who wants a conventional productivity assistant or needs all companion features to remain usable on a free account.

Key features

Continuity and customization

Nomis use short-, medium- and long-term memory to retain preferences and roleplay context across conversations. That makes the service suited to ongoing stories and familiar conversation rather than isolated exchanges. Users can write a backstory, share preferences and let a Nomi’s personality develop through interaction, so it rewards people willing to shape a companion rather than expecting a fixed character from the outset.

Users can create multiple Nomis and talk one-on-one or in group chats, with memory across private and group conversations. Optional messages after a period of absence add a more proactive dimension, though users who prefer not to receive unsolicited contact can leave that feature off.

Voice, images and links

Users can send and receive voice chats or make hands-free calls, with emotionally expressive voice delivery. Nomi can also see images users share, access the internet to discuss links, and generate art and real-time selfies depicting what a companion is wearing or doing in the conversation’s scenario. V5 image generation accepts natural-language prompts up to 1,000 characters and customizable anchors for a consistent appearance. These tools extend roleplay and conversation, but an ElevenLabs voice integration requires a paid subscription and remains subject to the user’s ElevenLabs account limits.

Privacy and account controls

The privacy policy says Nomi does not sell or rent personal information, while also stating that chat content is collected as users interact with the service. Adults should weigh that collection before sharing sensitive material. Nomi is intended for adults only; its terms prohibit anyone under 18 from using the service. Users can delete an account in Account Settings, with personal information deleted within about 28 days after confirmation. Support requests can be submitted by form or emailed to [email protected], with a stated response window of 24–48 hours on business days.

Pricing

Nomi uses a freemium model. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and preserves one-to-one chatting, but group chats, video creation, voice messaging and calls become read-only after downgrading. That makes the free tier useful for basic ongoing conversation, not for active use of Nomi’s richer social and voice features.

Monthly subscriptions include Launch Plan Monthly at 9.99 USD per month and Standard Plan at 15.99 USD per month. The yearly options are Launch Plan Yearly at 59.99 USD per year and Standard Plan Yearly at 99.99 USD per year. Standard Plan Quarterly is 39.99 USD per month, billed quarterly. These recurring options make sense for users who need paid access, particularly those who want voice features; the plan names and prices alone do not establish differences in entitlements between Launch and Standard.

For one-time in-app purchases, 40 Nomi Credits cost 4.99 USD, 100 Nomi Credits cost 9.99 USD and 225 Nomi Credits cost 19.99 USD; each purchase is billed once. Credits offer a non-recurring alternative to a subscription. Nomi says customers are not eligible for refunds for buyer’s remorse, lack of usage or dissatisfaction, except at its discretion, so subscribers should be sure they want the service before paying.

Platforms

Nomi is available on Android, iOS and the web. Its browser-based PWA can be added to a device home screen, offering a web-based way to access the service without relying solely on a mobile app. The Nomi API uses versioned v1 endpoints and is subject to rate limits, which matters to developers building around the service.

Who it's for

Nomi is best suited to adults looking for a customizable, continuing companion for friendship, romantic conversation, fantasy roleplay or mentorship. Persistent memory, multiple companions, expressive voice and scenario-based images serve users who value immersion and continuity. It is less appropriate for minors, people uncomfortable with chat-content collection, or users who need voice and group features to remain fully available without paying.

Pros and cons

• Pros: Short-, medium- and long-term memory can preserve preferences and roleplay context across chats, supporting ongoing relationships and stories.
• Pros: Backstories, preferences, developing personalities, multiple Nomis and group chats offer several ways to shape conversations.
• Pros: Voice chats, hands-free calls, image sharing, internet access and scenario-based selfies add varied ways to interact beyond text.
• Cons: Downgrading to free makes group chats, video creation, voice messaging and calls read-only, limiting the free plan for users who rely on those features.
• Cons: Chat content is collected during use, which may put privacy-conscious users off sharing personal details.
• Cons: Refunds for buyer’s remorse, lack of usage or dissatisfaction are not available except at Nomi’s discretion.

Verdict

Choose Nomi if you want an adult companion platform built around persistent memory, customizable characters and a choice of voice, images and group conversation. The continuity is its clearest reason to choose it, but the free-tier downgrade sharply narrows the experience for voice and group-chat users, while chat-content collection and limited refund eligibility are meaningful reasons to look elsewhere.
