Purpose: simpleCache is an R package for caching R objects to support reusable, restartable, reproducible analysis pipelines.
How it works: Users choose a cache location and provide a cache name and R code that produces the object.
Cache behavior: A simpleCache call loads an existing cache or creates it if one does not exist.
Features: The package can recreate and reload caches, list or delete them, and set a default cache directory.
Environments: Options include assigning cached objects to environments, including the global environment.
Integration: simpleCache interfaces with batchtools to build caches on cluster resource managers.
Use cases: The maker describes it for interactive analysis and automatic pipelines that reuse objects across scripts or R sessions.
Limit: The documentation cautions that cache names should identify objects that are not planned to change.
License: The package is distributed under the 2-Clause BSD License.
Support: Questions, feature requests, and bug reports are directed to the GitHub issue queue.
Downloads: CRAN lists Windows and macOS binaries and a source package for download.
