Recommended Free Tools
Copyright-free music can still require attribution. “Copyright-free” is not a reliable sign that credit is optional: check the specific track’s terms, credit the creator or service where required, and keep a record of the terms that applied when you downloaded or generated it. Of the services below, Soundimage requires attribution for its assets; Tunee and AI Makes Song require it for free-plan music under the terms provided here.
What Attribution Means For A Developer’s Project
Attribution is the credit the music’s terms require you to give its creator or provider. It is separate from whether you pay a fee, can use a track commercially, or can claim copyright in the finished work. Treat those as separate questions, and verify each one for the track and project you have in mind.
For a game, video, podcast, or other shipped project, put the required credit somewhere the audience can access in the project itself. A repository README or store listing may not travel with a built game or exported video, so do not assume it satisfies a requirement unless the provider’s terms say so.
Which Services Require Attribution?
| Service | Attribution requirement established here | Commercial-use information established here |
|---|---|---|
| Soundimage | Attribution is required to use its assets. The specific credit format and placement are not established here; check the site’s current instructions. | Commercial use is permitted, with attribution. |
| Tunee | Free-plan music requires attribution to Tunee. Its example is “Created by Tunee AI.” | Free-plan music is for personal projects; paid subscribers get commercial rights. Check the provider’s current terms for the plan and track. |
| AI Makes Song | Free users can publish with attribution to AI Makes Song. | Paid plans unlock commercial rights for videos, podcasts, and games. Check the provider’s current terms for the plan and track. |
How To Add Attribution To A Game, Video, Or Podcast
- Identify the exact track and source. Save the track name, creator or service, download or generation date, and the applicable terms alongside the asset in your project files.
- Check the intended use. Confirm whether the terms cover your project type, distribution, and commercial use. For generated music, check which plan applies to that specific creation.
- Copy the required credit accurately. Use the provider’s requested wording and placement. For Tunee free-plan music, the listed example is “Created by Tunee AI.” For Soundimage, consult its current attribution instructions rather than guessing a format.
- Put the credit where the audience can find it. Add it to the game credits, video credits, or podcast credits as appropriate, following the provider’s instructions. Keep a copy in your release records too.
- Recheck before a new release or reuse. A track cleared for one project or plan is not automatically established as cleared for another. Confirm the current terms if you change the use, redistribute the asset, or move from personal to commercial work.
Choosing Music For Interactive And Creator Projects
For a game scene, tutorial, or podcast bed, start by writing down the practical role of the music: where it plays, how long it should run, whether it needs to loop, and whether dialogue or game audio must remain clear. These are selection criteria, not established genre or production features of the services listed above. The available information does not establish specific genre catalogs, loop controls, export formats, or platform support for these uses, so check each provider before building the music into a pipeline.

If using Tunee’s conversational creation, you can describe the intended role and constraints in a prompt, such as: “Create instrumental background music for a short game menu; keep it unobtrusive under interface sounds; make the ending resolve cleanly.” That example describes a request a creator could make; it does not establish that the service supports a particular loop length, genre, or export format.
Attribution Does Not Settle Every Rights Question
Credit does not by itself establish permission for every use. Confirm the applicable service terms for commercial distribution, client work, and the particular project. If a track involves a cloned or impersonated voice, a cover, or samples, check consent and the platform’s terms for those elements before publishing.

There is also a separate copyright question for AI-generated music in the United States. The U.S. Copyright Office says works generated entirely by AI are not copyrightable, prompts alone do not make someone the author, and only human-authored parts of a mixed work may be protected. Applicants registering a work containing more than a minimal amount of AI-generated material must disclose it and describe the human contribution. This does not replace checking a service’s usage terms.

For each shipped project, retain the track or generation identifier, the terms or plan that applied, the credit text, and where it appears in the release. That makes attribution easier to preserve when a game build, video edit, or podcast episode is repackaged. When a provider has not stated a required format or a use-specific permission in the information available to you, check its current site before release.
