The best Android audio recorder depends on what you are capturing. Choose Dolby On for polished voice or music clips, Easy Voice Recorder for lectures and notes, Audio Evolution Mobile for multitrack production, or USB Audio Recorder PRO when a USB interface is central to the setup. F-Droid Audio Recorder keeps recordings local and open source. If you need physical controls, removable media or XLR inputs, a Zoom field recorder is a better fit than any phone app.
Sound quality still starts with the microphone, placement and room. An app cannot repair clipping, handling noise or a noisy environment. Use WAV or FLAC when you will edit; use M4A, AAC or MP3 when small files and easy sharing matter.

Which Android audio recorder is best for your workflow?
There is no universal winner. The table below shows the practical trade-offs before the detailed profiles.
| Recorder | Best for | Formats and capture | External input | Storage and editing | Free plan or price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dolby On | Fast, polished voice and music clips | M4A by default; WAV after enabling Lossless audio | Phone microphone and supported Android inputs | Automatic processing; export required to expose files to other apps | Free app |
| Easy Voice Recorder | Lectures, interviews, meetings and dictation | Free: PCM, MP4 or AMR; Pro adds MP3, FLAC and AAC | Pro supports Bluetooth input | Local recording; Pro trimming, folders and Drive/Dropbox uploads | Free tier; Pro pricing varies by store |
| Audio Evolution Mobile | Multitrack music, podcasts and editing | Multitrack recording and mixdown; formats depend on project and export settings | Class-compliant USB interfaces through Android host/OTG | Non-destructive editing, MIDI, effects and automation | App and optional purchases; current prices vary by store |
| USB Audio Recorder PRO | Direct interface or USB-microphone recording | WAV, FLAC, OGG and AIFF; up to 384 kHz when hardware supports it | Mono, stereo and multichannel USB audio | Local files with high-resolution capture and playback | $5.99 listed price; 50K+ downloads |
| F-Droid Audio Recorder | Simple, local and open-source recording | WAV or M4A; selectable sample rate and bitrate | Basic Android input support | Mono or stereo; background recording; local workflow | Free; version 2.5.0 requires Android 8.0 or newer |
| Zoom H1n | Portable stereo field recording | WAV, MP3 and BWF | Built-in stereo microphones | microSD storage up to 32 GB; physical controls | Standalone hardware; street price varies |
| Zoom H6 Essential | Multimicrophone field and location work | 32-bit-float WAV/BWF, up to 96 kHz | Four XLR/TRS combo inputs with phantom power | microSD/SDXC support up to 1 TB | Standalone hardware; price varies |
| Zoom M2 MicTrak | Compact, simple stereo capture | Stereo recorder designed around an onboard microphone | Focused on self-contained stereo recording | Removable-media workflow; physical recorder controls | Standalone hardware; price varies |
Compressed M4A, AAC and MP3 save space and upload quickly, but they discard information. WAV is uncompressed and broadly accepted by editors. FLAC preserves the audio while reducing file size, provided the next app in your workflow supports it. OGG and Opus can be efficient, although compatibility differs between editors and players.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
1. Dolby On: who it is for
Dolby On is the easiest choice when you want a voice memo, rehearsal idea or short music performance to sound finished without manual mixing. Its design is intentionally processed: the app applies enhancement rather than preserving a neutral microphone signal.
What it records and exports
On Android, Save Audio exports lossy M4A by default. Dolby’s optional lossless path exports WAV, but only for tracks recorded after Lossless audio was enabled. Turn that setting on before pressing record if you need an editable WAV master; changing it afterward does not convert an earlier M4A recording into lossless audio.
Storage and limits
Recordings remain in Dolby On’s internal app space until you export them. Other file managers and editors will not see a track simply because it exists inside the app. The automatic processing is useful for quick sharing, but it is a limitation for engineers who need an untouched signal or want to choose their own noise reduction, equalization and compression later.

2. Easy Voice Recorder: who it is for
Easy Voice Recorder suits students, journalists, meeting attendees and anyone who needs dependable everyday notes rather than a full music workstation. Its Google Play listing shows more than 50 million downloads and a 4.7-star rating (checked October 28, 2026).
Free recording features
The free tier records PCM, MP4 or AMR and can continue recording in the background. That makes it practical for a lecture or interview where the screen should stay off. Local recording avoids a network dependency, so a long session can continue without mobile data.
What Pro adds
The Pro edition adds MP3, FLAC and AAC formats, Bluetooth input, trimming, folders and automatic uploads to Google Drive or Dropbox. FLAC is the useful upgrade when you want lossless files that occupy less space than WAV; MP3 and AAC are better suited to quick sharing.
Important call-recording limitation
The developer states that Easy Voice Recorder is not a call recorder and cannot record phone calls on most phones. Android’s call-audio routing and manufacturer restrictions mean an ordinary microphone recorder should not be treated as a reliable telephone recorder.

Audio Evolution Mobile is the strongest app choice here for musicians, podcasters and editors who need a project rather than a single memo. Its manual documents multitrack audio, non-destructive editing, MIDI, effects, automation and mixdown.
Multitrack workflow
You can keep vocals, instruments, room microphones and spoken segments on separate tracks, edit without permanently altering source clips, automate changes and mix the project down when it is ready. That structure is more suitable for a podcast with separate guests or a song with overdubs than a one-button recorder.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
USB requirements
The app supports class-compliant USB audio interfaces through Android USB host mode. Depending on the phone and interface, you may need a data-capable USB-OTG adapter or a powered hub. Interfaces that require Windows or macOS-only proprietary drivers generally will not work. Check the interface’s channel count and supported sample rates against the project before buying cables or hardware.
Trade-offs
A multitrack project uses more storage, processing power and battery than a voice memo. The app is also more complex: input routing, monitoring and mixdown settings require setup, but that control is precisely why it fits production work.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →4. USB Audio Recorder PRO: who it is for
USB Audio Recorder PRO is built for recording directly from a compatible USB microphone or audio interface instead of relying on the phone’s internal microphone. It handles mono, stereo and multichannel input and supports WAV, FLAC, OGG and AIFF.
Resolution and hardware support
The app can record up to 384 kHz when the attached hardware supports that rate. The number is a hardware ceiling, not a guarantee that every phone, cable or interface will operate at it. Select a rate your interface and downstream editor both support; unnecessarily high rates create larger files and higher battery demand.
Connection checklist
- The phone must support USB host mode.
- Use a data-capable OTG adapter or cable when the phone’s connector requires one.
- The microphone or interface should be class-compliant and not dependent on a desktop-only driver.
- Confirm that the phone can supply enough power, or add a powered hub.
- Verify that the app supports the required channel count and sample rate.
Cost and limits
The Google Play listing shows a $5.99 price and 50,000-plus downloads (checked October 28, 2026). It is a capture and playback tool, not a replacement for a full multitrack DAW. A USB setup also adds adapters, power considerations and more points of failure than the built-in microphone.
5. F-Droid Audio Recorder: who it is for
F-Droid Audio Recorder is a straightforward open-source option for people who want local files and a minimal interface. The current 2.5.0 build was added October 2, 2026 and requires Android 8.0 or newer.
Controls and formats
You can choose WAV or M4A, set sample rate and bitrate, select mono or stereo and keep recording in the background. WAV is the safer choice for editing; M4A keeps storage and sharing requirements lower. The app’s local approach avoids mandatory cloud uploads, which is useful for private interviews or offline work.
Where it fits
This is a recorder, not a multitrack editor. Choose it when predictable local capture matters more than effects, MIDI, USB-interface routing or automatic sound polishing. As with every phone recorder, the built-in microphone and room acoustics remain the main quality limits.
6. Zoom H1n: who it is for
The Zoom H1n is a standalone field recorder for readers who want dedicated buttons, a built-in stereo microphone and independence from Android battery life or app behavior. It records WAV, MP3 and BWF files and uses removable microSD media up to 32 GB. Its listed weight is 60 g.

Why choose hardware?
A physical recorder can be started without unlocking a phone, keeps recording controls separate from notifications and leaves your phone available for communication or reference. Removable media also makes it simple to hand files to a computer after a session.

The H1n’s onboard stereo microphones suit rehearsals, room ambience, lectures and quick field notes. It is not a multichannel XLR mixer, so it is a poor match for several professional microphones that need separate gain controls or phantom power. For those jobs, move up to a recorder with XLR inputs.
7. Zoom H6 Essential: who it is for
The Zoom H6 Essential targets location recordists, documentary crews and small podcast teams that need several microphone connections. It records 32-bit-float WAV/BWF up to 96 kHz and provides four XLR/TRS combo inputs with phantom power.
Inputs and media
Four combo inputs let you connect multiple microphones or line-level sources while keeping channels separate. The recorder accepts microSD and SDXC media up to 1 TB, giving substantially more room for multichannel sessions than a phone’s internal storage.
When it is excessive
For a single spoken memo or stereo ambience, the H6 Essential is larger and more capable than necessary. Its value appears when you need physical gain and input controls, phantom-powered microphones, removable media and a recorder that does not depend on Android USB compatibility.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute8. Zoom M2 MicTrak: who it is for
The Zoom M2 MicTrak is aimed at simple stereo capture in a compact standalone unit. It is a practical alternative to a phone when you want an always-ready recorder with its own microphone and physical controls but do not need four XLR channels.
Best scenarios
Use it for quick interviews, rehearsals, ambient sound and spoken notes where a consistent stereo setup is more important than multitrack expansion. Its self-contained design avoids the OTG adapters, USB power questions and Android app permissions that can complicate interface recording.
Trade-offs
A compact stereo recorder cannot replace the H6 Essential’s multiple XLR/TRS inputs or the editing depth of Audio Evolution Mobile. It is best understood as a focused capture device rather than a complete production system.
How do I choose an Android audio recorder?
Start with the recording goal, then decide whether you need processing, lossless files, external inputs or a device that operates independently of your phone.

Choose processed sound or a neutral master
Dolby On is designed to make a recording sound polished immediately. For later editing, choose a recorder that can save WAV or FLAC and avoid irreversible enhancement at capture time. Easy Voice Recorder Pro, F-Droid Audio Recorder, Audio Evolution Mobile and USB Audio Recorder PRO offer more neutral format choices than a processed-first workflow.
Decide between lossless and compressed files
- WAV/PCM: uncompressed, broadly compatible and appropriate for editing, archiving and production masters.
- FLAC: lossless with smaller files, provided your next editor supports it.
- M4A/AAC/MP3: compact and convenient for sharing, but lossy.
- OGG/Opus: efficient compressed formats whose compatibility varies.
Check microphone and interface compatibility
A USB microphone or interface requires a complete compatible chain: Android USB host mode, a data-capable OTG connection, enough power and class-compliant hardware. A recorder app must also accept the device’s channels and sample rate. If any link fails, the phone may not detect the input or may fall back to its internal microphone.
Compare local storage with cloud backup
Local-only apps are preferable for confidential recordings and offline sessions. Easy Voice Recorder Pro adds optional Drive and Dropbox uploads, while Dolby On keeps files inside its app space until you export them. Cloud copies are convenient, but they require account access and a network connection after recording.
Account for battery, heat and reliability
High sample rates, multichannel USB capture, screen-on monitoring and background processing all increase battery use. For a long lecture, use background recording, disable unnecessary radios and leave free storage for the entire session. A standalone recorder removes the phone battery and notification risks, although it introduces its own batteries or media cards.
Pick the right hardware tier
Use a phone app for notes, lectures and quick clips. Choose the H1n or M2 MicTrak for dedicated stereo field work. Choose the H6 Essential when you need several microphones, phantom power and removable media. No recorder can compensate for a poor microphone, excessive distance or a room with uncontrolled noise, so improve placement before spending on higher specifications.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How do I record WAV or FLAC on Android?
For WAV, select a recorder that exposes PCM/WAV capture before starting. In Dolby On, enable Lossless audio first; only tracks recorded after that change can be exported as WAV. Easy Voice Recorder Pro can record FLAC, while USB Audio Recorder PRO supports both WAV and FLAC with compatible USB hardware.
- Choose the lossless format in the recorder’s settings before recording.
- Set the sample rate and channel mode your editor or interface supports.
- Make a short test recording and play it back through headphones.
- Check that the file appears in the app’s export or file-management view.
- Copy the original file before editing so you retain a first-generation master.
Can I connect a USB microphone to my Android phone?
Yes, when the phone supports USB host mode and the microphone is class-compliant. Use a data-capable OTG adapter, provide additional power with a powered hub when necessary and select an app that supports the microphone’s channel layout and sample rate.
USB Audio Recorder PRO and Audio Evolution Mobile are the most suitable choices in this list for interface-based recording. Devices that need proprietary Windows or macOS drivers generally will not function through Android, even if the connector physically fits.
Recommended Free Tools
What should I do when an Android recording is silent or distorted?
- Confirm that the app has microphone permission and that another app is not holding the input.
- Check whether Android selected the USB device or the internal microphone.
- Inspect the OTG adapter and cable; charge-only cables cannot carry audio data.
- Lower input gain if peaks clip, and move the microphone closer instead of boosting a distant, noisy signal.
- For interfaces, test without a hub, then add a powered hub if the phone cannot supply enough current.
- Record a short sample at a standard rate before attempting a long session.

Is FLAC better than WAV for phone recording?
Both are lossless, so neither throws away audio information. FLAC usually occupies less space, while WAV has the broadest compatibility with editors and production tools; choose based on what your next app accepts.
Can I record a lecture with the screen off?
Easy Voice Recorder supports background operation, and F-Droid Audio Recorder includes background recording. Before a long lecture, confirm that Android battery optimization is not stopping the app and leave enough free storage for the full session.
Can Android record phone calls?
Not reliably with a general-purpose recorder. Easy Voice Recorder explicitly says it cannot record phone calls on most phones, and Android or carrier restrictions differ by device; obtain the required consent and use a call-recording function supported by your phone and local law.
When should I buy a standalone recorder instead of an app?
Choose standalone hardware when you need physical controls, removable media, dependable operation away from the phone or multiple XLR inputs. The H1n and M2 MicTrak cover compact stereo work, while the H6 Essential is designed for multichannel microphones and phantom-powered sources.
