Overview

Branch connects web-ad clicks to app installs, later conversions, and revenue attributed to the original ad. Conversion reporting can be segmented by ad network, platform, ad set, or channel, while multi-touch and offline attribution and data warehouse export support broader measurement workflows. That scope is useful when a team needs to trace more than installs, but may be more than a simple campaign-counting operation requires.

Measurement can include ad impressions and view-through outcomes, not only clicks. Teams can also set attribution windows at the individual-link level. These controls accommodate campaigns with different rules, but require deliberate configuration and ongoing ownership.

Key features

Attribution and deep linking

Deferred deep linking directs new users to specific content after installation, while Universal Links and Android App Links can reengage existing users. This joins campaign measurement to the destination experience. Custom attribution windows and conversion reporting by network, platform, ad set, or channel add flexibility for teams comparing campaign performance.

Ad network connections and privacy

Prebuilt integrations for major ad platforms, publishers, and networks can be enabled directly. Branch names Meta, Apple Search Ads, Google, X, TikTok, and OpenAI Ads among its partners. Teams can choose which events trigger real-time postbacks for each network, a useful level of control when different partners need different signals.

For mobile measurement, Branch supports SKAdNetwork and App Tracking Transparency. It states that its infrastructure is SOC 2-compliant and its data practices align with GDPR and CCPA. Branch also says it minimizes collection, does not store sensitive end-user information, and does not rent or sell customer end-user data. Customers handling protected health information can sign a Business Associate Agreement for HIPAA-eligible solutions, with isolated environments, strong authentication, and layered encryption.

Developer resources

Technical teams can use the Help Center, Branch University training, SDK documentation, REST API guidance, and implementation resources. Native SDKs cover Android, iOS, web, macOS, Windows, tvOS, and Roku, with React Native, Flutter, and Unity among the supported cross-platform frameworks.

Pricing

Branch has no permanent free plan. Basics is shown at 0.00 USD per free as a billed free trial, capped at 3 ad partners, 3 data partner webhooks, and 3 ad partner postbacks; it permits up to 25 custom ad partners. That can support a limited initial evaluation, but teams with more than three standard partners or webhook and postback needs will reach the caps quickly.

Essentials uses custom pricing and is billed through a request-a-demo process. It raises ad partners, data partner webhooks, and ad partner postbacks to unlimited, while custom ad partners remain capped at 25. This is the more suitable tier for teams needing room to connect networks and send partner-specific events at scale.

Enterprise also uses custom pricing and a request-a-demo process. It adds CTV/OTT attribution, advanced SKAN modeling, and APIs that flex to a team's stack, alongside unlimited ad partners. It is aimed at organizations with connected-TV measurement or more advanced mobile privacy modeling needs.

Platforms

Branch Universal Ads lists Android, iOS, macOS, web, Windows, and API support. Its SDK coverage also extends to tvOS and Roku, as well as React Native, Flutter, and Unity projects. The breadth is useful for teams measuring campaigns across varied app environments, though actual integrations should be chosen to match the team's deployment.

Who it's for

Branch is a strong fit for organizations that advertise across web and apps, work with several ad networks, and need configurable attribution, partner postbacks, or revenue measurement. Its developer documentation and SDK range make it more appropriate for teams able to support implementation. It is less compelling for a small advertiser needing only a basic free tracker or a buyer who requires upfront pricing before engaging.

Pros and cons

Pros: Connects web-ad clicks to installs, downstream conversions, and attributed revenue, giving teams a cross-platform view.
Pros: Link-level attribution windows, view-through measurement, and configurable postbacks provide control over how campaigns and partner events are measured.
Pros: Supports SKAdNetwork and App Tracking Transparency, and offers a stated privacy and security posture that includes SOC 2-compliant infrastructure and HIPAA-eligible solutions.
Cons: No permanent free plan, and the Basics trial limits standard ad partners, webhooks, and postbacks to three each.
Cons: Essentials and Enterprise require a demo and custom pricing, so buyers cannot compare their costs upfront.

Alternatives

Marketing Attribution Software is a useful starting point for comparing other attribution products. Choose Kochava if a freemium option and published Foundation plan at 500.00 USD per month, including 33K conversions/month, better suit the evaluation. Tenjin is worth considering for its All-Inclusive Free plan, which includes 2,000 free conversions/month and charges $0.04 per additional conversion.

Singular may fit teams wanting a free tier with 15,000 paid conversions and no credit card required. Zobrx is a narrower option for Shopify-focused teams: its free tier supports up to 3 Shopify stores, 30 days of data, and 1 team seat. For B2B teams, Dreamdata offers a free plan with 5 seats, 2 months of user history, and 3 stage models.

Airbridge may appeal to mobile measurement buyers who prefer a published Core Plan at 40.00 USD per month, with 500K data points included and a stated per-point charge thereafter. Factors.ai is another option for web-focused teams, with a free plan and a Basic tier at 6.00 USD per year covering up to 10,000 monthly tracked users, 3,000 identified companies per month, and 5 seats. MarinOne is an alternative for teams seeking a paid Connect plan starting at 500.00 USD per month, with 5 data sources, 90 days of backfill, 24 months of data retention, and unlimited users.

Verdict

Choose Branch Universal Ads if your organization needs to connect web and app advertising through conversion and revenue measurement, with fine-grained attribution and network controls. Its breadth and privacy measurement support are the case for it; its trial caps and custom-priced paid tiers are the reasons to look elsewhere if you need a lasting free option or clear costs before a sales conversation.
