Overview

ProposalMint combines an opportunity database with nonprofit-specific analysis and proposal workflow. It builds an organizational profile from public records, websites and information the user supplies, then identifies facts that need confirmation. That approach is more useful for teams trying to establish a reliable starting profile than a directory that simply lists funders.

Its matching system scores opportunities for both fit and readiness and explains whether a grant is a strong, moderate or weak match. Small teams can use those explanations to decide where limited writing time should go. The trade-off is that a score does not remove the need to validate the underlying organizational facts or the funder's requirements.

Key features

AI agents produce sectioned proposal drafts with citations and claim-level support. They flag unsupported claims and compliance risks, giving a writer a concrete review queue rather than an unstructured block of generated text. Users can review, edit, confirm or dismiss individual draft items, and the compliance check blocks export until outstanding issues are cleared. This is a meaningful control for organizations that need an auditable approval step, but it does not replace subject-matter review before submission.

Pro adds a Critic–Writer revision loop and a compliance officer final check. Those functions are most relevant when a small team wants an extra pass on consistency and requirements without adding enterprise-scale staffing. The PDF Form Chat, funder intelligence and voice library extend the paid workflow beyond initial drafting, while priority support gives Pro subscribers a direct support channel.

For federal work, ProposalMint assesses SAM.gov readiness and organizes entity information for Grants.gov submission preparation. Its data sources include public nonprofit records, IRS records, SAM.gov, Grants.gov and state registries. The result is a workflow with a clear federal orientation, although organizations still remain responsible for the accuracy and completeness of their submissions.

Privacy and security controls are described in the policy: organizational data is not used to train models for other users or third parties and is not shared with advertisers or marketing partners. Listed safeguards include encryption in transit and at rest, JWT authentication with JWKS verification, organization-scoped role-based access, audit-trail request IDs, and regular security assessments and monitoring.

Pricing

ProposalMint uses a freemium model with a free plan and a free trial. The Free plan is free and includes EIN-based profile building using eight or more sources, grant opportunity browsing and search, smart match scoring, a SAM.gov readiness assessment, a foundation explorer, and document upload and management. It is a sensible starting point for organizations that need discovery and readiness tools but can write proposals without integrated AI generation.

Pro costs 29.00 USD per month, billed at $29/month. It adds AI multi-agent proposal generation, the Critic–Writer revision loop, a compliance officer final check, PDF Form Chat, funder intelligence, a voice library and priority support. Pro is the relevant tier for teams that want drafting and structured review in the same workspace. Moving from Free to Pro is therefore less about larger search access than about unlocking the proposal-production and quality-control workflow.

Platforms

ProposalMint runs on the web. That makes it a straightforward fit for teams working across locations, while organizations seeking a native desktop or mobile application should look elsewhere.

Who it's for

The product is aimed at nonprofit grant writers, development directors and program leaders managing multiple deadlines without enterprise-scale staffing. It is particularly well suited to organizations pursuing federal opportunities, because SAM.gov readiness and Grants.gov preparation sit alongside matching and drafting. Teams that only need a searchable directory, or that require fully autonomous submissions, are less likely to benefit: the workflow still requires people to verify claims and clear compliance issues.

Pros and cons

Pros

Connected grant workflow: Profile building, fit scoring, drafting and compliance review live in one process, reducing handoffs for small teams.
Explainable matching: Strong, moderate or weak fit and readiness ratings help prioritize a crowded opportunity pipeline.
Claim-level review: Citations, unsupported-claim flags and export blocking create specific checkpoints before submission.
Federal preparation: SAM.gov assessment and Grants.gov organization support organizations with federal applications.
Privacy commitments: Organizational data is not used to train models for other users or shared with advertisers or marketing partners.

Cons

Human verification remains mandatory: AI outputs are drafts and recommendations, so staff must check every claim before submitting.
Core drafting is paid: The Free plan covers discovery and readiness but not AI proposal generation or Pro’s review tools.
Web-only access: There is no listed native desktop or mobile platform.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see Nonprofit Grant Writing Software. Choose Granted AI instead if an API and web access, including a free API plan, are more important than ProposalMint’s nonprofit profile and federal workflow. Mavenly is the better fit for teams that need API access and a paid Starter tier with annual billing savings. Choose GrantAppli if a free web plan limited to three grant projects is sufficient. Grantable suits users who prefer chat-based limits and file imports, including a free tier with five chat messages a day. Grantboost is an option for a low-cost annual discovery plan with explicit writer-chat and grant-view quotas. Choose Grantivo if one-time credit purchases and unlimited proposals on its free tier match your budgeting needs. Grantora fits organizations wanting a free collaborative plan with defined project outputs, storage and user roles. WinMyGrant is worth considering when a free plan capped at three proposals per month and a full seven-section proposal are the priority.

Verdict

ProposalMint is a strong choice for small and mid-sized nonprofit teams that need to rank opportunities, prepare federal applications and move AI-assisted drafts through a controlled review process. Its main reason to choose it is the integration of fit scoring, cited drafting and compliance gates at a modest Pro price. Look elsewhere if you need native apps, a standalone writing tool without federal workflow, or automation that removes the obligation to verify every generated claim.
