Recommended Free Tools
Create your own sound with AI music by defining a few repeatable musical traits, generating a short set of variations, and keeping only the choices that express your idea. Use your own lyrics, melody sketches, or reference audio where the tool supports them; then revise one section at a time so the result develops a recognizable identity instead of copying a broad genre label.
What Makes A Sound Feel Like Yours?
A personal sound is a small set of choices you can repeat across tracks: for example, a particular rhythmic feel, a vocal approach, a contrast between sparse verses and fuller choruses, or a recurring melodic shape. These are starting points, not guaranteed controls in every generator. Check each product’s current interface for the specific controls it offers.
Write a brief before generating. Keep it concrete and limited to a few traits:
- Role: What should the track do, such as sit under a game scene, introduce a podcast segment, or carry a vocal hook?
- Energy and movement: Describe whether it should build, stay restrained, or change intensity between sections.
- Texture: Name the broad sounds and their roles, such as a dry drum pattern under a sustained synth layer. Check whether the generator can reliably express those details.
- Signature: Pick one repeatable element, such as a short melodic contour, a rhythmic pause, or a recurring lyric phrase.
- Boundaries: Note what should stay out of the arrangement, such as a large choir or a busy lead part.
Choose A Workflow That Leaves Room To Shape The Result
| Tool | Useful For This Workflow | Key Constraint |
|---|---|---|
| Suno | Generating complete songs with vocals, lyrics, instrumentation, and production; editing, remixing, extending, and replacing sections. | Free Plan excludes commercial rights and stem separation. Suno Studio is limited to Premier. |
| Eleven Music | Generating vocal, lyric-led, or instrumental tracks; section editing, inpainting, genre transitions, and audio references. | Free use is personal and Marketplace access is browse-only. Commercial rights vary by plan and exclude film, TV, and studio games. |
These capabilities do not establish that either tool has a dedicated control for every instrument, genre, or production technique in your brief. Check the vendor’s current site for unsupported specifics before building a workflow around them.

Build And Refine A First Track
- Write a one-paragraph sound brief. Describe the track’s purpose, energy, texture, signature element, and boundaries. Avoid stacking contradictory adjectives or naming a reference artist as a substitute for describing the actual musical traits.
- Bring in material you created. Draft a short lyric, hum a melody into a recording, or make a simple rhythmic sketch. Eleven Music lists audio references; Suno supports audio uploads, with an eight-minute upload limit on its Free Plan. Check the current product interface for accepted formats and how references are used.
- Generate a small variation set. Use the brief to create alternatives, changing one trait at a time—for instance, keep the rhythm and melody direction while changing the arrangement density. This makes it easier to tell which choice gives the track its character. The available generation controls may differ by product.
- Choose the version with the clearest signature. Listen for the recurring element you defined, whether it is the hook, rhythmic feel, or contrast between sections. If none of the results preserve it, simplify the brief and generate again.
- Revise one section at a time. In Suno, use section replacement, extension, or editing features where available. In Eleven Music, use section editing or inpainting where available. Keep the parts that already work and change only the section that weakens the track’s identity.
- Compare the result against your brief. Check whether the signature element is audible, the arrangement follows the intended movement, and the boundaries were respected. If a specific instrument or technique matters and the result does not establish it, consult the vendor’s current feature details or use a workflow that gives you more control.
Keep Rights And Human Contribution In View
Use only lyrics, recordings, voices, and reference audio you have permission to use, and check each platform’s terms for uploads, voice use, and the rights attached to the plan you choose. Suno’s Free Plan does not include commercial rights; Eleven Music’s commercial rights vary by plan and exclude film, TV, and studio games.
