How to Remake Music With AI: A Rights-Aware Workflow

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To remake a song with AI, first confirm you have permission to use the recording and any voice you want to imitate, then separate the source into parts if needed, create the cover, and review the result before sharing it. A generated cover does not itself establish permission to use the composition, recording, samples, or a person’s voice; check the relevant service terms and the rules of any platform where you plan to publish.

Choose The Remake You Actually Need

“Remake” can mean a new performance of an existing song, a voice conversion that keeps the source performance, or a new arrangement. The tools covered here support stem separation and cover or voice-conversion workflows. The listed information does not establish that they can reproduce a particular genre, instrument arrangement, or song structure, so check each vendor’s current capabilities before building around those specifics.

  • For a voice-led cover: start with a cover generator that accepts your source and offers voice or pitch controls.
  • For a source you need to edit: separate vocals and instruments into stems before conversion or remixing.
  • For a new arrangement: confirm that the chosen tool supports the arrangement controls you need; that capability is not established for the cover tools in this workflow.

Check Rights Before Uploading Or Generating

Get consent to use a real person’s voice for an imitation, and check the terms for the source recording, composition, samples, model, and intended use. The product information describes differing commercial-use limits, but it does not resolve whether you have rights to the material you supply. Do not treat a tool’s output or a successful upload as permission to publish.

Spotify’s September 25, 2025 policy announcement said vocal impersonation is allowed only when the impersonated artist has authorized it. Spotify also described AI disclosures in credits through DDEX and measures against mass uploads and duplicates. If you plan to distribute there, check the current rules and disclosure requirements before release. Spotify policy announcement coverage

Remake A Track Step By Step

  1. Write down the target. Specify what should stay recognizable—such as melody, tempo feel, or section order—and what you want to change, such as the singing voice or balance between vocals and accompaniment. These are your creative instructions, not guaranteed product controls.
  2. Prepare an authorized source. Use a recording and any voice material you are permitted to upload. Keep a note of the permissions and terms you checked. For Singify, keep the upload within its listed 20-minute and 30 MB limits.
  3. Decide whether to separate stems. If you need the vocal and backing apart, run the source through LALAL.AI and preview the results. Its free Starter plan does not include full result downloads, so check the current paid options if you need downloadable stems.
  4. Make the cover. Upload the source to Singify and choose a listed solo, duet, or chorus mode. Use its pitch and key controls to guide the result. For a desktop workflow, HitPaw AI Song Cover lists audio and video input, voice controls, and MP3 or WAV export. Check the vendor’s site for setup and any details not established here.
  5. Review the output against your target. Listen through the whole track and compare the melody, timing, phrasing, and transitions with the source. If a passage is unclear or the voice sounds unlike the intended performance, revise the input or settings only where the tool supports them; do not assume a particular genre or instrument control exists.
  6. Check release conditions before sharing. Revisit the service terms, confirm the necessary permissions, and check the destination platform’s current rules. If publishing to Spotify, follow its applicable impersonation and AI disclosure policies.

Use Concrete Instructions Without Assuming Unsupported Controls

For a voice-cover pass, a useful creative brief might read: “Keep the melody and section order recognizable; use a solo vocal; aim for a lower register; keep the vocal clear over the backing.” Singify lists solo mode and pitch and key controls, but the brief’s other qualities are listening goals, not confirmed settings or guaranteed results.

For stem preparation, a practical request is: “Separate the vocal from the accompaniment so I can inspect both before making the cover.” LALAL.AI lists vocal and instrument separation; the directory information does not establish a particular genre profile or guarantee that every instrument will separate cleanly.
