There are plenty of newly introduced security features in the device settings. The lockdown mode is the most trending feature among them all. However, it is not a feature which can be used by anyone in any situation. You can only use it if you are very sure about what you are doing.
Android 9 Pie Lockdown Mode
In simple words, lockdown mode is a feature developed for the users who are too concerned about their private data and want to secure their information from hackers, law enforcement agents, press etc. It blocks the basic unlocking methods including the fingerprint sensor, facial-recognition, and voice-recognition features from being used. It is already illegal for law enforcement to make you enter your PIN code or a phone pattern, and with Lockdown Mode, they can’t force you to use your fingerprint sensor or facial-recognition tech either. Therefore your data remains private as long as you wish to keep them.
How to enable the lockdown mode in Android 9.0 Pie

- Open Android Settings.
- Select Security & Location.
- Open Lock screen preferences.
- Tap the switch on the last option to enable Show lockdown option.
That’s it! You have successfully enabled the lockdown switch on your phone.
Now the option to enable the lockdown option will pop up when you need to do that. You just need to hold down the power button for a few seconds. You can now see the Lockdown option under the power and restart options. If you enable the lockdown mode, you cannot use any of the usual methods to unlock. This includes the fingerprint sensor, the device will force you to enter your PIN code, password, or pattern.
After entering the access code, Lockdown mode will be automatically deactivated. If you want to enable it again, you have to manually follow the steps above to do that.
