Apple Earpods Cleaning Tips

IEM cleaning tool

It’s a special tool for removing debris and ear wax from the sound ports of an earphone by using a wire loop and a brush. The wire loop can be used to scoop out the wax from the corners. Small bristles of the brush at the other hand can help in cleaning the leftovers. So, with such a tool at hand, you can keep your in-ears in peak condition.

Traditional Cleaning Tips

Apart from the above, there are traditional ways like using a soft, dry, lint-free cloth or a microfiber cloth. Do not use abrasive material as it can damage the shiny look of your AirPods/EarPods.

If necessary, slightly dampen the cloth with 50-60 percent isopropyl alcohol and then use it to clean the surface. Alternatively, you can use a solution that functions as all – a cleaner, polish, and a disinfectant. You can try Whoosh!! It is also available as a spray.

Clean Apple Earpods Mic and Speaker meshes

Clean the microphone and speaker meshes with a gentle dab of a cotton swab coated in mineral oil. Oil dissolves oil. So, mineral oil will also likely dissolve the wax. When done, wipe it with a towelette soaked in an alcohol solution.

Pry out any visible ear wax that might be lodged in the speaker holes of the headphones with a toothpick. Be extremely careful not to poke the wax farther into the earbuds.

Most importantly, maintain personal hygiene i.e., keep your ears clean. Health physicians advise not to use a cotton swab in your ear canal because you could do some damage to your hearing. So, if you notice a ton of wax in the speaker grill, visit a doctor — your ear might require some clean and care.

Tips to Clean Apple Earpods Case / Charging Case

Apple Earpods come with a case which can also charge them when not in use. While most of the things remain as above, make sure not use to clean the case with any sort of liquid. If you do, it may damage the charging function.

Grab a cotton swab or a microfiber cloth. Rub it gently all around, and if there is something stuck, you can use the earbud to push it out. If you are cleaning from inside make sure not to push too hard else the cotton might get stuck inside.
